I can't wait to see what the Z06 does. I think it will be a BEAST.

It will be a beast.

I am really hoping that the Z doesn't come in at the guesstimates in this thread in excess of 90k base, no one knows for sure but I believe GM will use the same mentality they did and say if you can afford a C6 Z06 now u can afford a C7 Z06 :)

Vetteman Jack 12-04-2013 09:50 PM

Can't wait to see what is unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show.

OK, I admit my prediction of no Hi-Po for the 2015 MY was wrong. This is another great milestone for GM showing they can move product forward quickly.
I will hang on to being half right in that according to the press release "Production is expected to begin in late 2014." This will make the Z06 a 2015 and a half, similar to the 2014 convertible.

I can't wait for the debut of the Z06. Being that it will be a Z06, and not a ZR1, I hope it remains focused as a light, naturally aspirated, high revving, track weapon. I want so bad for it to be 7 Liters in displacement. Leave the crazy outrageous king of the hill forced induction awesomeness for the ZR1.

ibleedgreen 12-04-2013 09:54 PM

Well it's a good start...staying the Z06. I see it definitely being north of $90k.

As for this...

Screw the 7.0, anyone who's ventured into the C6Z forums knows those engines are ticking time bombs....it was a nice trip down memory lane to have a 427 back but it hasn't been reliable, its time has past. I say this as a former C6Z owner who worried if each trip would be the last before catastrophic engine failure. Sucked part of the fun out of ownership.....and mounting claims of 2013's kicking the bucket proves GM never figured out what the heck is going on with the LS7.
Bring on a forced induction Z06 with 600 plus reliable HP and the masses will be thrilled.

Such a lame as blanket statement. Glad you sold your C6Z, lame.

Not sure I buy into this as the Z-28 will have the LS7. GM cant be this dumb to have not fixed the issues.

That Viper paint video should be mandatory training for BG's paint robots.

:iagree: Well said!

I and many others can't believe why the base C7 is priced so low! Others I have talked to have made ignorant comments like "yeah because it has such a low quality interior". They're just letting perception make a decision for them instead of reality. That's one of the downfalls of pricing the car so low I guess.

You're exactly right. Perception is reality. If GM doesn't place value on their products, some others won't as well.

Interesting changes in perception happen when things are expensive. It's automatically perceived that it must be better because it's so expensive. I'm not suggesting that GM raise the price for giggles, but they need to place more value on what is going to be a true supercar because the C7 has the goods to back it up now.

There's a reason why Porsche is able to charge twice the money for half the performance as the Corvette. It's not to say that Porsches aren't great cars but most of it is perception.

There's going to be a little fussing and fighting as GM reimages the Corvette but nothing changes if nothing changes.

The Corvette Z06 will complete Chevrolet’s performance car lineup, which will also see the addition of the Corvette Stingray Convertible, Camaro Z/28 and SS sedan.
Based on this except from the GM press release it sounds like no ZR1 in the C7's future if the Z06 "completes Chevrolet's performance car line up"!

Yes ! The corvette has always been the "best bang for your buck' So we will be looking at a base price of 85. going up to high 90's

b4i4getit 12-04-2013 10:06 PM

The Z06 will slaughter most anything out there. It will not be in the six figure range as some of you are guessing. Look for someone to say "if you could afford the old Z06 you can afford the new one."

You may get your wish. GM Powertrain has successfully taken the 7 liter block and pushed it to 600 HP. It remains to be seen if this is what will be in the Z06 but for a relatively low volume car it is not improbable.

Frankie2blue 12-04-2013 10:12 PM

I bet it will be surprising as far as price, and I would venture to speculate that it will be base price of high 80's and fully equipped at the price of a decked out C6 ZR1. Just my opinion.

Most C6Z's I saw were in the $95k range the last few years. I think thats the range. 1000-1500 or so max production a year.

If only time travel were fully possible. I travel in time in my laguna blue C7 every day but not to January 17th 2014.

C7 Zo6

The price should be 15-20k more than a standard Z51, have to consider added brakes, suspension, warranty for added power, rear end, etc, if they do a Zo7 car with ceramics, better suspension, etc add another 15-20k, ZR1 territory, just add the lt you are ordering and add options from there, if a 1lt Z51 is 60k, add 20k non Zo7, if add Zo7 add another 20k, should be close on pricing! Just a thought
