This thread is so pointless!!!!!! It can go on forever, its all about what you want/works for you! At the end of the day you have a C7 which is awesome!!!

I think a lot of us have the same dilemma. The Z51 is faster.....
So, on the street the Z51 would not be any faster, unless you'll be driving on the street at 9/10ths like you would on the track. |

Z51 is faster around the track. There has been no undisputable evidence that it is faster in a straight line. I'm referring to people posting their 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. All we have to rely on are GMs 0-60 and 1/4 mile figures, which of course, show the Z51 is faster. How much of that is GM justification we don't know. Until identical Z51 and nonZ51 Automatics line up at a drag strip and race about 3 times we will never know for sure which is faster in a straight line. On manual cars there is too much driver variable.

I actually think the NON Z51 is faster in a straight line due to being lighter. On a track obviously the Z51 is faster.

Can't Decide
If you can not afford the upgrades then it does not matter. The upgrades are a rounding error in the price of the car if you can afford it. Resale will be better with the upgrades. Here is your chance yo buy a CORVETTE or buy a Corvette. These choices are what makes America great.

Oh no they are in the light the resale value and trade in value is higher I just traded my 2011 GS in and got the added money for a Z51 and it made a difference .How could it not it just makes sense .
:toetap: I was able to only loose 2k on my c7 base stingray. I know several that have Z51s with many options that could not afford to take a 10k hit for a trade on a Z06. Not saying that some did not luck out but generally speaking. |
Most C7 owners can afford the Z51 option. It's only a few thousand dollar option. The majority of those that don't get Z51 option either don't need it, don't want it, or don't like certain aspects of it, so the rational thought is.....why waste money on it.
In 3-5 years the resale value on a car without and a car with this option will be negligible. Resale value need not be a factor in making a decision on whether to get a C7 with the Z51 option or not. |

I don't even think I would benefit from the e-lsd because I don't enter and exit apexes on local roads and we don't have any windy roads here in FL lol |

Well said. And it's not even about wasting money. My C7 is a DD, so with the exception of the electronic differential, all the the other Z51 parts are negatives for me. This may sound like heresy, but I honestly wouldn't have ordered a Z51 if it was a free option. Don't particularly care for the Z51 wheels or the spoiler, I have virtually no brake dust, the ride is more comfortlable, and the dry sump is not well suited for short trips in the neighborhood. I got exactly what I wanted and couldn't be happier. Others may prefer the Z51, but my hat's off to all the non-Z51 owners who had the confidence to get what was right for them and not simply go with the crowd.

I bought a non Z-51 because it was on the dealer lot and I got a great price. If I was ordering, it would have been a hard choice.
I say if you have to ask the question, just buy the Z-51 option. |
I got a Z51 vert and I would have paid $2000 dollars just to get the SLOTTED ROTORS makes the car look even more BADAZZZZZZZ!

Dave - I love the larger brakes and rotors on your C7 Z51 Vert and I'm sure you're enjoying the magnetic ride suspension. Great looking ride!

The answer is to split the difference and get a ZF1
