A 1972 AMC Gremlin. :lol: A complete POS!!! But I had fun with it for about six months (this was 1978) until it kind of died... It looked like this except mine didn't have those stripes...it did have a $99 paint job so it was shiny...'til the paint started peeling off. :D

1951 VW Bug. Over a 100,000 mi on the engine. Prepped and primed it with spray paint to save money and then took it to Earl Sheib for his $19.95 paint special. Had it painted lemon yellow with black wheels and it was "really groovy." :crazy: With that 40 hp engine it took 3 days to get to 60 mph---4 if there was a headwind. I have many years of wonderful memories from crawling around the countryside in that car. Most of my friends owned Mustangs and even a vette, so I was a bit of an outlier. I learned a lot from that car, including patience and humility. At times I wish I had it back. Life was much simpler then.

1964 Oldsmobile F-85 two door coupe bought in 1976.

1948 Ford two door for $125. Nosed, decked, and lowered. Looked good in its day but suffered with severe vapor lock during hot weather. Sold it after less than a year and bought a 1950 Ford two door for $150 which after all these years still remains the best car I ever owned.

1948 Mecury Coupe, I loved that car.

1984 Honda Prelude. With no air-conditioning through two summers in South Texas. The whole car shuddered at idle. I loved that car so much for the entire two years that I had it... until I killed it by taking a curve too fast and slamming into a curb. :cry

Technically my first was a 71 Mercury Capri. Didn't have it long. Old lady nailed me and totaled it. I consider my 72 TR6 my first car. When I bought it, it had no top or hood and was various colors. Took me about 6 months of fixing it up and saving my money for a paint job and stuff.

1971 burnt orange Malibu w/ small block 350. Only bad part was it had too many doors (4). It was a hand-me-down from my grandfather.

1958 Triumph TR3 at the age of 15. Had lots of fun in that little car!!! Have continued to own at least one two seater car for the remainder of my almost 64 years.

I guess my middle age crisis started early, lol. Or, I never grew out of my first childhood in order to head for my second.

Red 1963, Chevy, Nova SS :D 230cid straight six, 3 speed on the tree.

1966 Buick Wildcat, 401ci, 4 barrel, electric blue, 80,000 miles and bought for $250 in 1975. I don't think I ever got 10 mpg with it.

1968 Ford Torino GT Fastback for $500 - a year later I picked up a repo'd 1976 Trans AM 455 HO 4-spd for $750 - wish I still had that one

First car was a 1992 Eagle Premier, but that was a hand me down that was wrecked by my dad 6 months after they gave it to me (he borrowed it to go to work, a Mustang rear ended him at a stop light because it didn't see that the light was red).

Next two cars where not paid for by me: a 1997 Grand Am (bought to replace the Eagle), and a 2004 Malibu bought because the Grand Am wore out. I commuted to the local University, and my parents paid for my cars because I lived at home (and therefore they didn't have to pay for room and board).

The first car I actually bought and paid for myself (so some would argue my REAL first car) was a Saab 9-3 Aero 6-Speed. I got it over a GTO because I wanted a Sunroof.

That makes my Corvette the second car I ever paid for myself.

1955 Mercury Monterey

Mine was a 1961 Mercury Comet. I payed $250 for it. It used oil a lot and i forgot to check it and it seized.
