Be honest, why?

For me, it was the realization of a 5 decade dream.

Kids, college, mortgage payments, and practicality, took its toll for many years.

So, why would I buy it now, when I'm retired, with my track years behind me? Simple.

I could afford it, and I wanted to own a new Corvette before I died. I wanted a manual gearbox, because all my muscle cars, when I was younger, were stick, and I loved driving them.

I wanted to drive it, when I felt like driving it. I wanted to look at it in the garage, when I felt like looking at it. I wanted to detail it almost every weekend to keep it looking new, and get myself some exercise at the same time.

I took delivery Jan. 24th, 2013, and just turned 1,700 miles a few days ago. Probably will be driving it about 3,000 miles per year.

I will drive this beautiful machine, as long as I am able to fall into, and crawl out of it.

How about you? Why did you buy yours? Post a photo of yours as well. We're all proud of our cars!

Great thread. Thanks for starting. Interesting answers.

I bought my corvette for many of the reasons that others have stated.
I'll list a few of them here.
I have loved them since I was a young man, (although that was quite awhile ago) I am living my dream.
I enjoy my corvette, it is my therapy. I always feel good when I get behind the wheel and row through the gears. Heck, I enjoy just going in the garage and looking at them.
I enjoy washing/detailing my corvettes, standing back and admiring my handiwork and America's true iconic sports car.
I have met some wonderful people over my many years of corvette ownership. A few have become cherished friends.
By the way, I'm not a chrome guy. (Not that there's anything wrong with that)

Old kid's dream of mine, growing up watching them race in my hometown, I have always considered them to be the sexiest, if not the fastest, and I still do today.
Now that I own one, I don't think I could live without one ever again... highly addictive.

More practical than my Harley! My 3rd Vette and best by far! Love the looks, love the performance, and love to drive... not ride in a car.

Reliable track car with all the goodies I needed. Great brakes, decent suspension, and the ability to put huge tires under it. It has been awesome. I'll miss her when I trade her in on a C7 soon.

I could not get in and out of my Pantera, so after 38 yrs I sold it and bought an old mans convertable.
After owning BLACK horses, black Pantera, black pick ups, and a black
Harley, and being a Black Donnelly, I went with Atomic Orange..Ed

To re-enter the "Bracket Wars" but most importantly it won't rust sitting in the driveway! Never owned one before and I like it.

PS: I would recommend getting the front splash guards to protect the rear panels.
