:iagree: I'm definitely acutely OCD about that...

twinarrow99 08-29-2013 01:15 AM

constantly reminding the wife not to slam door, and or NOT to fling it closed - only using the window glass... Another one - she sets this huge ridiculous duffle bag of a purse on the floor in front of her, and is constantly bringing it up to her lap to dig for something. Darn purse has all this metal hanging crap that runs risk of scratching the glove box or dash. arrrrgh...

ProfessorDeath 08-29-2013 01:19 AM

God dam* bugs splattered everywhere.

ProfessorDeath 08-29-2013 01:25 AM

Leaning, fingerprints, slamming doors rank very highly as well. But those f**king bugs drive me nuts.

My girlfriend thinks I'm being a chivalrous gent when I open and close the door for her. Not so much. Stop touching my paint and pulling yourself out by grabbing my targa top!

fred D 08-29-2013 01:30 AM

I hate it when someone slams the door, and all these damn abriv. I don't know what your saying..I know, BFD.

Am I the only one who's constantly got forehead prints on the windows? Full hand prints all over the car? Every time I park this car it needs a detail spray when I come back out 15 minutes later. Stop touching my sh*t!

Now that you mention it, I sometimes have mysterious finger prints all over my car as well. Maybe they're from the same gremlin who steals just one of my socks out of the dryer.....:toetap:

Keeping car Zaino shiny. I have Lemans blue. It's worse than keeping black clean.

A post by Evil Twin a few years back.

Just some common sense ideas... Since retiring for GM 12 years ago I have been trying to teach people about tire tuning... and what type of tire to choose. tire tuning is what pit crews do to Nascar and Cup cars.. they monitor the track temp which effect the tire pressure. Tire pressure is a big tire killer. What I mean is the actual pressure the tire is seeing when its rolling, not when the tires are cold.. an example of tire tuning.. if a summer day in Georgia has a morning temp of 70F and an afternoon temp of 98F, a Georgia black top can see 140 degrees on an active highway. this 140 F temp will increase your actual tire pressure from 30 cold to 38 when warmed up.. making the tires center high. this will wear out the centers quicker and also create a reduced footprint this reduced footprint also cases the tire to wear because it has less grab to bear the load. also a soft compound compared to a touring compound will have a marked effect.. tire are made up od rubber and carbon, performance tires are 60 % rubber and 40 % carbon. Touring tires are 60 % carbon and 40 % rubber... rubber is soft and wears out twice as fast as carbon.. touring tires are designed to take long trips.. performance tires are design to grab aggressively rubber has a high coefficient of friction , making them grab better but will erase themselves much like an eraser on a pencil.
I have always had great longevity with tire because I know what IM doing. But you have to do it...I wont argue the point.. my tire life speaks for itself. IN the summer I usually put 26 or 27 PSI in my tires knowing that when they are heated up they will see 30/32 psi HOT.
The idea is you want them to be around 30PSI when they are hot, not when they are cold, to get the most out of them.
Evil-Twin is offline Report Post

There are many other posts by Evil Twin regarding "tire tuning".

Handprints after closing the hatch drives me crazy. Brake dust used to be up there too but I no longer have that problem. And yes, parking is a very serious issue as well. :willy:

I don't have the latch finger print issues as I have the handle to pull the latch down.

I hate when my brake pads squeal and, as soon as possible after they start, I have to wash it to get the brake dust off. 95% of the time the car is still clean from the previous wash and or detail but it gets it again anyway. :D

Same here, don't you just love the way DSOM shines after a good wash and wax?

Is that a full width spoiler in your avatar picture or a ZR1 spoiler? Do you happen to have anymore pictures of it? My wife and I were thinking about getting a full length but weren't sure how it would look.

People feeling the need to put their greasy limbs on the paint, for some reason they dont do that to my 06 Taurus?
