What are you OCD over?
What are you guys most OCD over when it comes to your Corvettes? :ack:
I'd have to say my biggest pet peeve is dirty exhaust tips so I am constantly polishing and wiping down my tips. Either that or finger prints... My wife almost stabbed me one night when I instinctively swatted her hand when she leaned on the rear quarter panel. :willy: |
My girlfriend put her feet on my dash one day while cruising down the 101. She had slipped her flip flops off, but she almost got dumped.
|
I have a black car. Enough said.

I'm OCD about C7 posts in the C6 forum. :toetap:
Seriously, I'm not OCD about my Vette. It truly is just a car to me, albeit a very fun car. I drive it all the time. I race it. It rained here two days ago and it's dirty because I haven't washed it yet. (I know that will bring out the OCD in some people. ) We're not OCD about the wife's Shelby either, it's her DD, and just a car as well, although it's holding its value much better than my Vette. |
Passengers not slamming the door, or flinging it open for that matter.

I dont leave the cup holder open if there's no drink in there, can't stand that...everytime I get home I do a full splatted bug inspection/wipe down with detail spray of the front end...i don't like pulling the ebrake super hard or too easy (I have a M6) true OCD...
|
I wasn't OCD until I bought my Corvette!!!! You'd be hard pressed to find anything crooked or dirty anywhere near my car - God help me, I yelled at a tire guy for coming within 10 feet of my car with dirty gloves on. SAVE ME!!!!! I just bought a new MCS steering wheel on Friday, and it's now quite obvious that the last alignment done on my car was not done with the wheel straight, so I'm off to the shop tomorrow for a new front end alignment so the wheel can be perfectly straight when I'm driving. There's no helping me now! I've gotten so bad, I'm showing other people how to close their doors so they don't get finger prints on their own car.
|
Another one for me is when I'm at a redlight I wiggle the shift knob every an excessive amount of times to make sure that I'm in neutral before I release the clutch pedal.
|
Pouring my engine oil in SLOWLY when refilling after an oil change.
|
Where I park it......:willy::willy::willy:
|
My wife's car (family carrier) is parked next to my vette in the garage...my 4 yr old son will wait for me to open his door (next to the vette) because he knows that's the rule when my vette is there...lol
|
1.Never ever fart in the seat.If you cant wait till the next red lite to step out, then lift at least 6 inches
2. I always count exactly 6 clicks when putting on the gas cap |

Other OCD issues: - Leaning on my Corvette - Slamming my door - Fingerprints - Sloppy service technicians - Where I park my Corvette - Dirty floor mats; I clean them after every trip. - Good wipe down, detail between and after every drive - Clean exhaust tips - I remove the each wheel and wash & wax  |
All of the above....LOL

Other than that I just try to keep it clean, but have no fear of driving it every day. I just changed the fog light blackouts as one took a big rock hit and broke. Man those things took a beating!! Pitted and sandblasted all to heck. Paint looks very good on the nose.....1 small chip in the clear. Very pleased at how well the AW is holding up. |
Other than what most everyone has already said my OCD is "making sure both climate control numbers are the same 76°" Bothers me when they are not the same :crazy2:

I think I was more OCD with my Trans Am... but one carry over is door slamming, especially with the window down.. and parking... got to have a good safe spot... have the wife trained well with regards to those two as well..

I'm not OCD over anything with mine. It is a car, driven almost every day including during the winter months. It is washed and waxed frequently and is well maintained, but many models have been photographed in it and on it. My only rule there is no 'hard' or 'sharp' items on clothing or body. Don't get me wrong, I take care of my car. At 7 years in service and 46,000 miles, it looks as good today as when new. Enjoy your cars! |

Water spots and cat paw prints. My C6 sleeps under an open-air carport.
|
Picking up thongs left by girls and then having to remind them not to leave stains on my seats and shift knob...... So irritating!!!...... Next time , I'm just gonna hand them some armor all wipes before entering my Z....... Very disrespectful and very annoying for me!!

Mine cured me of one of my habits. Always filling up so the gas pump stops on an even dollar amount. After the first two fill ups with gas sloshing out I don't even do one extra squeeze anymore.
Slamming the door on any of our cars. Other than that I drive it and don't obsess over it too much. |

I feel a little OCD that I must talk to the Vette every time I go into the garage. Usually stuff like "wasn't that a great trip last week......", or just reminding the Vette about our next upcomming trip where it can get out, see some of it's friends from our club and have some fun...
Kind of crazy, huh?...reminds me of that old TV program My Mother The Car... Gene... |
I'm a clean freak anyway, but I really enjoy washing my car to keep it looking great.
|
I'm OCD about a lot of things with my Corvette. The list is long! With that said, it is my one and only car! I purposely wanted it that way, otherwise it would sit in the garage 90%of the time because of being OCD. I know of people who actually sold their Vettes because they were so anal with them. These cars are meant to be driven and enjoyed and in spite of our best efforts... they will not stay perfect!
|
My daughter says it should be 'CDO' so the letters are in alphabetical order. She drives a BMW.

OCD about finding a new Vette. Sold mine last week.

I'm guilty of wiping my Nav Screen, Air Conditioner screen, buttons, dash; the interior of my Vette often. One day, the Wife and I was driving home in the Vette when I decided to whip out my trusty microfiber towel and wipe my Nav screen, etc. I was just about done when to my surprise, Wifey took the opportunity to smear my screen with her fingers and smiled :D at me!! I was  but remained  and laughed  it off. She's the only one that can get away with such a stunt. constantly reminding the wife not to slam door, and or NOT to fling it closed - only using the window glass... Another one - she sets this huge ridiculous duffle bag of a purse on the floor in front of her, and is constantly bringing it up to her lap to dig for something. Darn purse has all this metal hanging crap that runs risk of scratching the glove box or dash. arrrrgh...
|
God dam* bugs splattered everywhere.
|
Leaning, fingerprints, slamming doors rank very highly as well. But those f**king bugs drive me nuts.
My girlfriend thinks I'm being a chivalrous gent when I open and close the door for her. Not so much. Stop touching my paint and pulling yourself out by grabbing my targa top! |
I hate it when someone slams the door, and all these damn abriv. I don't know what your saying..I know, BFD.

Am I the only one who's constantly got forehead prints on the windows? Full hand prints all over the car? Every time I park this car it needs a detail spray when I come back out 15 minutes later. Stop touching my sh*t!

Keeping car Zaino shiny. I have Lemans blue. It's worse than keeping black clean.

Just some common sense ideas... Since retiring for GM 12 years ago I have been trying to teach people about tire tuning... and what type of tire to choose. tire tuning is what pit crews do to Nascar and Cup cars.. they monitor the track temp which effect the tire pressure. Tire pressure is a big tire killer. What I mean is the actual pressure the tire is seeing when its rolling, not when the tires are cold.. an example of tire tuning.. if a summer day in Georgia has a morning temp of 70F and an afternoon temp of 98F, a Georgia black top can see 140 degrees on an active highway. this 140 F temp will increase your actual tire pressure from 30 cold to 38 when warmed up.. making the tires center high. this will wear out the centers quicker and also create a reduced footprint this reduced footprint also cases the tire to wear because it has less grab to bear the load. also a soft compound compared to a touring compound will have a marked effect.. tire are made up od rubber and carbon, performance tires are 60 % rubber and 40 % carbon. Touring tires are 60 % carbon and 40 % rubber... rubber is soft and wears out twice as fast as carbon.. touring tires are designed to take long trips.. performance tires are design to grab aggressively rubber has a high coefficient of friction , making them grab better but will erase themselves much like an eraser on a pencil. I have always had great longevity with tire because I know what IM doing. But you have to do it...I wont argue the point.. my tire life speaks for itself. IN the summer I usually put 26 or 27 PSI in my tires knowing that when they are heated up they will see 30/32 psi HOT. The idea is you want them to be around 30PSI when they are hot, not when they are cold, to get the most out of them. Evil-Twin is offline Report Post There are many other posts by Evil Twin regarding "tire tuning". |
Handprints after closing the hatch drives me crazy. Brake dust used to be up there too but I no longer have that problem. And yes, parking is a very serious issue as well. :willy:

I hate when my brake pads squeal and, as soon as possible after they start, I have to wash it to get the brake dust off. 95% of the time the car is still clean from the previous wash and or detail but it gets it again anyway. :D

People feeling the need to put their greasy limbs on the paint, for some reason they dont do that to my 06 Taurus?
|
My wheels...At $1k a corner I treat them like eggs!
|
Anytime I'm in the passenger seat!!!! If I do deign to let someone else drive my car, they shift too rough, or not enough, drive too fast or too slow, and my all time peeve is when they drive too fast when there is dirt or gravel on the road and it sprays all over my clean car! So, solution there is don't let anyone drive it.
When I drive it, I hate the fact my floor mat sometimes come undone from the buttons. Drives me crazy. |
By far the worst OCD I have is parking. It's got to be exactly the proper spot or I go nuts worrying about it until I get back to the car.
Passengers who open and close the door using their window is right up there too. |

mine is prints on the glass -- seems passengers love to use the window as a door handle -- or rest their arm on the door panel leaving a big elbow print on the glass......also my wife likes to point out things while we travel and puts her fingertips on the glass to point ...rrrrrrr.
|
When my wife closes the passenger door she uses the painted area of the door leaving finger prints. :( I would rather her use the rubber area that you open the door with. But as bad as I want to say something, I don't because she is an awesome wife and is just now starting to like the car.
Keeping the outside clean for me is also an OCD thing, but since it's a daily driver kind of hard to do. Plus with all the rain we have had in Florida. |

Everything (before I sold it!!). One thing was the wheels; dusted off the brake dust after every drive. I put on ceramic pads on my first C6 but I still wiped them down, so that was pointless. The brakes on my new car (non Corvette) really dust bad, even worse than my last Vette, the Z06. So I'm wiping down my new ride's wheels all the time now too, at least the car is not black though.

""Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is an anxiety disorder characterized by intrusive thoughts that produce uneasiness, apprehension, fear, or worry; by repetitive behaviors aimed at reducing the associated anxiety; or by a combination of such obsessions and compulsions. Symptoms of the disorder include excessive washing or cleaning; repeated checking; extreme hoarding; preoccupation with sexual, violent or religious thoughts; relationship-related obsessions; aversion to particular numbers; and nervous rituals, such as opening and closing a door a certain number of times before entering or leaving a room. These symptoms can be alienating and time-consuming, and often cause severe emotional and financial distress. The acts of those who have OCD may appear paranoid and potentially psychotic.
