Top of Pikes Peak
Took a cruise to the top of Pikes Peak today with a couple of my Corvette Club members. What a great time.

Great shots.

I will be there soon! I just found out they have paved the road all the way to the top now - it wasn't on my agenda until I found that out. I'm taking a long (4,000 miles!) road trip in my GS and Colorado Springs is on the route. :) Lunch at House of Yakitori is a must! :yesnod:
Thanks for the pictures! :flag: |
 Great pictures.

Thanks for the pix. They bring back great memories of a much earlier time in life. First time up Pikes Peak was in our VW Beetle. Almost had to push it part of the way. I wonder if we would see any difference making the same trip in our GS?

Nice as always Chris! Cant wait for weekends off this fall.....

We were there back in July and the road was in great shape. Just as we were getting close to the top, a USAF C130 flew close by at eye level and we could see the pilot clearly. By the time I grabbed my camera, he was long gone.

cool
it's beautifull up there. I had the chance to drive up there a few years ago, although not quite as fun in my rental car :toetap:

We were up there with a Harley back in '99 or so and wanted to do it again when we rode the current Ultra there in May of this year but the rangers said the last eight miles of the ascent rode were snow covered and slippery so they wouldn't let us make the attempt. We did take the cog railroad up and found it around 17° (-3° windchill) on top with lots of snow and a brisk wind blowing; really a very nipply day.

The pic of your VY Vette in front of the Summit sign is a keeper. Great shot....!!

I bet you got GREAT gas mileage on the way down~!
:D |
Nice pics Chris. I'll probably make that trip next year. I'll drop the wife at the factory outlets and take off. I hope you had the donuts while you were up there.
For those making a trip to Colorado another mountain drive is Mt Evans. The C6 does great at 14k feet, human body not as much. I can probably write a book about all the scenic drives just in Colorado and Utah alone. |
Nice! Heading up there next month on the 23rd after a visit to the Grand Canyon.
