2013 Grand Sport 2LT...good price?

Hello,

I'm new to this forum, and have been given the green light by my wife to get my first corvette. I've narrowed it down to a 2013 Grand Sport, brand new, I like the wide look. A 2LT package that includes chrome wheels, heritage package, with two tone leather and fender stripes, performance exhaust, magnetic ride control, and an automatic transmission. Additionally it has the GPS; even though it’s a dated system it still looks better than the basic radio. Oh if it matters the car is artic white...looks hot. I can buy this car for 58,000 flat, MSRP is 68,000. Do you guys think it’s a good buy? I was told by my buying service at the credit union it’s a better price than they could get for me, and at that price the dealer isn’t making anything. Oh I forgot they will throw in two free mobile 1 full synthetic oil changes with the purchase.

ncvette_1FUNRIDE 08-05-2013 01:11 PM

Where do you live?

Tommy Jr. of MacMulkin Chevrolet in NH (a forum vendor) has lots of 2013 GS I believe. I would check with him on what he has in stock. If he has what you want, I would almost guarantee you that he would beat that price by a lot.

You could probably get it shipped to you and still beat that price.

I've seen 2013 GS going for as much as $17,000 off the sticker price.

Snowwolfe 08-05-2013 01:20 PM

That's to much $$$$ for a new C6 in todays market. General rule is to expect about 18-19% off MSRP from a GOOD forum vendor. However, if it is the only car you can find optioned the way you want it then buy it:)
Tommy at McMulkin is the best. Search his web site to see if there is a car you like and give him a call. Don't be put back by the fact you might have to fly n drive or get the car shipped to you. Trust me, it's worth it.
Keep us informed of your decision.

To be completely honest with you, I really don't think that's a great price.

Here's my reasoning....I purchased my car Jan. 24, 2013. Photo below. It is also a Grand Sport, also a 2LT, has the NPP exhaust, Heritage Edition Package, has black headlamp buckets, (MSRP $590 option), black fender badges, ($100 option), and a few other options. However it is an M6, so you have that A6 additional expense, and I do not have magnetic ride. My wheels where a $500, your chromies are about $2,000 MSRP.

I paid $56,300.00 for my car, but remember it was back in January, before dealers started making massive price reductions like a fire sale on the C6 generation. If you do the math on all the + & -, you'll end up with your car costing about $1,800 more than mine, or about $58,100.

But remember that would be back in Jan. '13....right now, my car can be had for about $53,000, yours should be around $55,000.

Seems to me, your getting a good price for that car 6 months ago, but it's not so hot now. Of course, this is based on south Florida prices. Forum vendors will do several thousand better on the price.

What ever you do, best of luck, you're gonna enjoy that car.

You should browse some of the deals in MacMulkin's Dealer Inventory thread. That will give you an idea of where an aggressive dealer would price a 2LT GS right now.

onenordsman 08-05-2013 01:43 PM

I've already searched Auto Trader, the internet and the dealers fellow members have mentioned. I even talked with a salesperson for Rick Hendrick Corvettes and he could not match the price of 58,000 for the same vehicle. So, I'm sure sure about your advice. Also, you have to remember if you find a brand new 2013 with color and options you like you might have get it before its too late , since the production run for 2013 model year was probably the shortest.

Greg00Coupe 08-05-2013 01:45 PM

Just call the 4 top Forum dealers........ MacMulkins, Kerbeck, Mike Furman at Criswell and I recommend Dennis Tap at Les Stanford.

You will quickly get a sense of the market with 4 phone calls.

Also there may be some great lease deals..... not sure your plans, if this is what you'd consider.

WARNING...... don't get confused about what someone else paid. There is Corvette loyality money, GM credit card money in play. Someone posts OH I got 20K off does not say what the total deal is.

Heck there are even some brand new 12s sitting on dealer lots.

Snowwolfe 08-05-2013 01:51 PM

MacMulkin has 14 2013 GS's listed for sale with automatics, they are averaging about 18% off msrp. Nothing there has your interest?

ButWhatDoIKnow 08-05-2013 01:56 PM

Frontier Chevrolet in El Reno, OK has two new GS for $15,000 off. Both white.

You make a very good point. When providing info on what I paid, I should have said there was no loyalty money involved as this is my first 'vette, and there was no GM credit card money either.

You also bring up a good point about the current deals, and it makes me wonder of they are as hot as everyone says they are.

Plus the OP already spoke with Hendrick, and their price is what I would have paid at my dealer 6 months ago, $58,000.

I'll monitor this thread, and I'd appreciate it of the OP would post information regarding the actual price he needed to pay to obtain this car. Perhaps all the talk of 20% or more off list, etc., is just that, a lotta talk.

onenordsman 08-05-2013 02:15 PM

I called Frontier Chevy ...idiots ...54888...that includes all rebates ....which I don't qualify for ....so add another 3750 to the price ..

Yeah...a LOT of dealers are advertising prices with the $3,000 Loyalty Rebate already factored in. Then you read the fine print and find out all the incentives that you DON'T qualify for...

Johnny_B_Good 08-05-2013 02:23 PM

Back in Oct ’12, I purchased a brand new ’13 GS 2LT plus other options. It listed for $66,xxx and I got $11K off the sticker plus an additional $3K off because I already had a Vette. I would think you should be able to do better than $10K off considering the C7 will be hitting the streets in a few weeks. Are your anywhere near the Atlantic City NJ area? If so, you may want to consider Kerbeck.

red2012 08-05-2013 02:28 PM

My 2013 GS 2LT. MSRP was $64,105 and I paid $50,000 with $3,000 loyalty at MacMulkin in APRIL.

onenordsman 08-05-2013 02:29 PM

So when my credit union offers a free buying service ..and they tell me the price is better than they can get, ...what don't believe them ...the credit union is also aware of all rebates

This tells me the buying service can’t beat the prices of the high volume dealers.

onenordsman 08-05-2013 02:49 PM

depends upon what part of the country you are in....I'm in the Midwest ...dealers don't like to discount other than what GM is giving away as so-called free money

Rich Mickol 08-05-2013 02:58 PM

I think you should work your dealer a little bit.

I agree with the above, you would probably do better with one of the big four. Just keep in mind the shipping charges to get the car to you.

Sounds like a real nice car. Good luck.

dvilin 08-05-2013 03:03 PM

The car is everything you want, the deal to me is good enough. You can spend a lifetime chasing all these other great deals. Buy it, do not look back and enjoy it.

Lottsa truth in that...area is also very important.

I live in Palm Beach County, Florida. It's a well know high rent district. There are 2 Chevy dealers in the immediate area, and 2 more just outside the area in which I live.

If you mention Kerbeck, or Hendricks, they'll just tell you politely to go there, because they won't match those prices. About 6.5 ~ 8% off MSRP is the best you can do around here. I'll bet the C7 will be full MSRP for the first 2 years, in this area, and then about 4% in the 3rd year.

I agree. The OP is within $1500 of this car having a "Forum Dealer" type price. If it's everything you want and you aren't making any compromises, then go for it.

Contrary to what some people believe, there is no fire sale on new C6s right now. The standard C6 rebate has been unchanged for months...and the current offers aren't due to be updated until September 3rd. My guess is the fire sale will start when C7s start showing up at the dealers.

Seems like all the best deals are usually closer to the coasts. But Les Stanford (Detroit) and Coughlin (near Columbus) come to mind as extremely competitive mid-west Corvette dealers.

exaf86 08-05-2013 04:34 PM

Whatever you do, get it before she changes her mind. You should know that a woman has never fully made up her mind until the time has passed. Whatever you do, don't tick her off until the vette is IN HAND!

onenordsman 08-05-2013 04:55 PM

Based upon member "ButWhatDoIKnow" I called Frontier Chevrolet in El Reno, OK has two new GS for $15,000 off. Both white.....according to their ad. They one left Grand Sport coupe left. They will sell it to me for the 54,888. here's the catch its a damn dealer demo...so every joe lunch box who showed any interest in the corvette drove it liked they stole it...no thanks...it's been violated now..ha ha..besides the car has 2500 miles on it. I'm guess those weren't baby miles put on it.
My dealer here in the Midwest is offering me 1.55 interest rate for 72months ...we're also putting down a nice size down payment.

onenordsman 08-05-2013 05:03 PM

Fellow member Top_Fuel is correct ...there isn't a fire sale going on...The dealers can only go soo low on the current corvettes. Top Fuel is probably correct additional rebates will take place over Labor Day weekend, but by then one would have to settle with what is left on the dealers lot instead of finding the one you like. Yes..I know buying a corvette is a stupid purchase and there's better things to spend your money on..but damn I've always like corvettes since being a little kid, and we're luckily enough to be in a spot to afford it. Also why work soo f..ing hard if one can't enjoy their success.

Snowwolfe 08-05-2013 05:03 PM

Are you going to buy the one from your dealer? If so, congrats and welcome to the forum and brotherhood.

Ya know, it seems to me that you've done all the research that is reasonable. Grab the car you want now before it's gone.

Every one is always left with the feeling that they paid too much after buying a new car. If you are overpaying, it's by a very minimal amount.

Life's too short, get it, enjoy it, now!

onenordsman 08-05-2013 05:06 PM

Thanks for everybody's post..keep them coming

not08crmanymore 08-05-2013 05:33 PM

Bought mine for 48600,after rebates. You don't own a Vette so put back 3 grand I think it was so 51600 is what you should pay at most. on a car with Msrp at 63300. your car is 68,5 grand so 53 grand.

Doesn't say what his car has for options ...He thinks I should pay no more than 53000...kinda hard when the base price without options is in the 54-55 range ....I'm started to think some of people here think buying a corvette is like a buying a Honda or a Toyota ....People if you find the car you like you and you're happy with the deal get it ..I'm not crazy about putting 1500miles right away on my new baby if bought outta state

NOVAtwinLS3 08-05-2013 06:05 PM

Bought my 11 GS JSB 2LT, about this time 2 yrs ago for 52k w/ 1.9% financing, doesn't sound like a good deal. Criswell in MD has a huge inventory, largest in area. Look on autotrader for new cars there as well, can negotiate shipping or fly and drive back. You shouldn't be paying more than 54, with the C7 coming out soon, they need to make room for those.

NOVAtwinLS3 08-05-2013 06:21 PM

Just looked at Criswell's inventory, they have a torch red 2LT convertible for 57, have 4LT 60th anniversary for 61.

draGonS 08-05-2013 06:39 PM

It's not apples to apples, but I bought a 2013 1LT GS about a month ago. MSRP was $57.8K, and my price was $44K. After taxes, it was $47.7K, so I got it for $10.1K off. I feel like that was a really good deal based on my research. The dealer might have made a couple hundred bucks. If you're not familiar, look at fightingchance.com and ask for the $40 package with all the actual dealer costs, rebates, factory holdback, etc. Well worth the money, even if only for the peace of mind.

But if you've already waited most of your life to have a 'Vette, you have buy-in from HouseCom, you can afford it, and the car is RIGHT THERE... I say go buy your dream. In five years you won't care about a couple grand, but you'll smile every time you walk up to it at the far end of the parking lot.

Cyber Greg 08-05-2013 07:46 PM

15% off of MSRP sounds about right. Sounds like a good deal. Especially if it's the one you want.

navyvetteran 08-05-2013 07:58 PM

Talk to Tommy.

Goaty 08-05-2013 08:33 PM

About 3k too high based on Macmulkin and Kerbeck pricing. If you are ok spending an additional 3k for the convenience of buying local than go for it. Also at this point you may not find the exact car you want as inventory is thin.

2 GTOs 08-05-2013 10:23 PM

Mac Mulkin is very up front with the pricing on their website. I bought from them and paid exactly what their website said pus I got the 3k loyalty as a current corvette owner. I would use their prices as "the best you will probably find" and make your decision from there. I seem to recall that the magnetic ride was typically not common in the 2 LT cars.

I wouldn't expect the local dealers to match the Mc Mulkin price because I doubt they do the same volume. If you found a car you like, and the price is fair and it is convenient, then buy it. Better to spend a few dollars more and get what you want. Good luck.

Snowwolfe 08-07-2013 01:52 PM

Any news? Did you buy the car?

You said 2013 GS 2LT.They all have the same options I think,no? Mine was 63 grand w/nav and painted top,6spd. Bought it for 48600 before any trades. If yours stickers for more just equate the same discount..minus the owner loyalty.

harley57 08-09-2013 08:11 AM

Call maxie price chevrolet in loganville georgia...i bought my 2013 gs 2lt there in may...sticker was $62000.00 purchased for $45900.00
i called many dealers to try to save the trip and nobody could touch the price...
Good luck...i love mine..
