Night Race Blue or Cyber Gray
I have a chance to change the exterior color. I'm planning on getting NRB but might still go with Cyber Gray. Has anyone personally seen the C7 in either one, or better yet, both of these colors? I would be interested in your opinions on how it looked first hand in these colors. It will be a Z51 with sliver wheels and Kalahari interior.
Thanks. |
I haven't seen the car in person, but from pictures, Cyber Grey hands down
|
Both colors are great on the Stingray but of the two my choice would be Cyber Gray. It is an incredible color.

I may be partial to CG anyway but I saw it at the NY Auto Show and it was incredible. That would be my choice.
|
Another vote for Cyber Grey.
|
I seen this one Saturday, it was NRB I believe. It was stunning....

Did you see both in person? I saw Cyber Gray on a C6GS in person but it looked darker and more dull than the C7 CG photos. It was an overcast day.
The CG is the exact color as on the C6. The NRB is the exact color as on the C6. Lighting always makes a difference but with these two metallics, it makes all the difference. Look through this album. You will find my photos of the Cyber Gray from the reveal night. http://smg.photobucket.com/user/talo...?sort=3&page=1 Look through this album, you will find my photos from the NCM birthday bash and you'll see the NRB Geneva convertible. http://smg.photobucket.com/user/talo...?sort=3&page=1 |
Ive seen them both, and even being a fan of blue (my 05 was Lemans Blue), of the 2 I would go cyber grey. The NRB just didn't do it for me, its so dark is almost black. There needs to be some color separation from the 2.
|
Tough choice, but I would recommend trying to see them both in person. Also different colors respond differently in bright sunlight and dark cloudy days. Especially the metallic flake colors, It 's your car, your choice, go with your gut response...you will know it when you see it!

My 2011 GS Cyber Grey
2012 Cad CTS Coupe Dark Grey Metallic 2010 HHR Cyber Grey 2014 STINGRAY ORDERED IN MAY CYBER GREY METALLIC No question what I like!!!!!!! |
I've seen the NRB and for me it did not look good. From a distance I thought the car was black, a 'time for a carwash' black. Reminded me of flat black wheels with brake dust all over them. CG is the way to go, and you can choose all the same interior colors that would have matched well with the NRB. i've heard CG has some blue in it, so you may still get the mojo.:D
|
I've seen both and the NRB is very dark, it is the exact paint code of the Camero just a different name. Drive by your local chevy dealer. On the coupe it was very dark and lost a lot of the features of the C7.
But saw it in a convertible with a blue top and wow. The blue top made the paint look a lot bluer and you dont have the rear wheel vents. Wouldn't do NRB on coupe but would do Conv. |
I recommend that you go down to your local dealer and find an example of each color to ponder. I had the same quandary and that's how I resolved it. They are both great colors & I spent a good 45 minutes until I was sure. Good luck!

I have said this before but, I wish they would slightly brighten the NRB. It could be called Late Afternoon Race Blue.
|
I have to jump in and defend Night Race Blue... if for no other reason... it is what I have on order :-)
My Vettes have been black/black and this time it is NRB/Kalahari because I really like it... big change for me. Anyway, all a matter of what you like best. GM'er tallied the first 100 orders he has been tracking. 14 were Cyber Gray, 11 were Night Race Blue. |
OP
I understand your pain as I went through the same issue. I finally settled on CGM for car, but it was a flip of the coin as both are truly beautiful. |
NRB, easy.
All the subtlety and modernism of Cyber Gray, minus the colorless, pedestrian sedan lineage of Accords and Camrys. Take Cyber Gray, saturate it and give it some complexity, and you end up with something like Night Race Blue. :) |

NRB for me, it hides the goofy black accents the best. I'd order the car Carbon flash if it was an option to blend in the vents and hid the ugly rear bottom facia.
NRB will go great with Brownstone 3LT or black 2LT. Cyber gray looks good if you like the black accents everywhere. |
GOing with Cyber Gray. I like the color and the fact that the vents, grille, etc are going to be available in that color down the road as well.
|
I thought about that, but will they also match the lower rear?
|
I'm really hoping I can see both colors in person and in good lighting on the C7 before my allocation slot opens.
Does anyone know what color cars they display at the ALMS races? I will be in Austin for the race in September. |

This is always a personal choice not sure how any of us can help you???? But strickly from a down the road view.......NRB will probably be discontinued in the not too distant future. Not so much Cyber.
If you want something a little rare go with NRB. |
How different do you want to be? There's going to be a lot CG's out there this time next year and few NRB's. just an added thought.

Can someone tell me if the CGM Stingray in the show picture has the exposed carbon fiber roof? To me it looks like it does and if so looks more distinctive than other posts have mentioned. I'm on the fence about choosing this option since in another thread most of the new orderers were getting the painted top since they felt exposed cf didn't show that well

The painted roof is of course all body color. The exposed carbon fiber roof is clearcoated carbon fiber weave with the edges over the doors painted in body color. Transparent roof panel can be mistaken for the exposed carbon fiber panel but it does not have the painted "rails" along the sides. |

I think the only way NRB problem will be solved is to bring back LeMans Blue asap! That was by far the best color blue ever offered.
Color choice is so subjective. To the OP, you will really need to see the colors in person. |

Thanks...I've been trying to imagine that combo...that with brushed/clearcoated aluminum HRE's and.... bingo! And, don't forget RED calipers!!!
The wheels....:woohoo: http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...h-Tinted-d.jpg |
Those are HRE P40SC's, and figure about 8 grand on the car with rubber.
|
Saw both in NY auto show. I really liked Cyber Gray initially. After seeing the NRB in person I will order NRB.

Another thing to possibly consider is how motivated are you to keep NRB looking great? As some have said it is so close to black the time factor may come into play for you.
I ordered Cyber as a change from DSOM. |
I havent seen both colors on a C7 but have on a C6.
I like NRB but when it catches the light from certain angles it gets a purple affect. Not my Cup of tea. CGM is one of my all time favorite Corvette colors - But I am biased. |

It looked so different at the NYIAS that I had to ask the spokesperson if the C7 had the same formulation NRB as the C6 did (she didn't know). Last summer, I was looking to trade in my LeMans Blue Metallic. When NRB came out, I really wanted to like it. I was ready to trade my car in for a 427 convertible, and I wanted the new car in blue. I went down to Criswell to look at the NRB on a beautiful, sunny day. I just about drove Mike Furman nuts. When the sun came out, I loved it. The metal flake really popped. It was beautiful. When a cloud passed by, it lost it. It looked very different to me. Not really blue, not really black. Not really doing it for me. Of course, I was also able to see the NRB side by side with a Centennial black car, and a Spiral Gray which was near by. I ended up with my Carlisle Blue. I hope you really like the NRB, but before you buy it, do yourself a favor, and look at it in natural light. :steering: |
I saw NRB on a 2013 and I was disappointed. In the shadows looks like black gone bad. I'm still trying to decide on the exterior color. Hopefully the Carlisle show will have all the colors on display.

I would not want facts to ruin your judgement but history says you are incorrect...

From the C7 pics I have seen so far, I preferred colors that are on the darker side. They seem to make the C7 look more stealthy/classy and also hide all the black vents somewhat more than the brighter colors. I do like some the brighter colors from most angles, but with that contrast on the rear end, I think it might get to me over time. CG, NRB, and Black were the 3 colors I am seriously considering. CG is definitely the safest color, as every other car out there seems to be some shade of gray/silver. I currently have a black Silverado right now so I also know the work it takes to keep black clean, but boy does it look good when it's all shined up.
As of now, I have decided on NRB to be a little different from the rest of crowd and maintain the dark look which minimizes the contrast. However, I will hopefully be able to see all these colors first hand on some C7s before finalizing my order. |

Just recall seeing this poll here on CF. I do realize the poll is completely unscientific so you may be right.

I didn't say your chart was a fvcking poll. I said a poll was done here (unscientific poll) (if you know what that is) and it says of us here on CF that responded to the question, assuming truths were told, that NRB is not in the top of choices. Take your pill.

Here's a picture of the NRB which looks incredible. But, if it's not in Bright Light, it's too Dark. From my experience I also like CG but I also think it looks better on the Wide Body C6 than the Non Wide Body C6. As far as CG on the C7, I think the new design is perfect for CG and would be my choice over NRB. Just my 2 cents for what it's worth  |
