My car has the Z51 package, and I'm pretty sure that GM ceramic pads are part of that option. I get no squeal at all, but I do get a little "groaning" when backing out of the garage. I can live with that ... may just be the automatic adjusters ... adjusting.
I agree with other posts about GM pads; I see very little dust with them. |
I cleaned my wheels up and put on two coats of Rejex, now they rinse off.

There are no "automatic adjusters" on disk brakes.

Ya but that photo of my wheels is from 95% highway and the Hawk one-piece pads.
The Caebotech pads were worse! I've got a set of them with 1k miles sitting in my basement. |

I've been told they are not available for the GS/ZO6

Hmmm.. this may be true. I would try Hawk Ceramics or the Akebono Premium ceramics in that case. THe Akebono get great reviews but are pricey. Hawk makes great stuff, but I don't have any experience with their Ceramics directly. Such a shame. I can pickup four corners in the AC Delco Ceramics for my Z51 on Amazon for like $77...

I just don't worry about brake dust on the inside of the barrel. Keep the outsides clean and be happy. If you keep a sealant on the wheels it should take less than 2 minutes to wipe them all down during a wash.
|
you are a SICK MAN
cleaning the barrels
I have been using Rejex on the face of the wheels since I found out about it for a few years now and have always been able to just spray them down with the hose and dry them with towel & they come clean pretty easy, even after a day in the mountains. |

Yes I use (expensive) C/T pads for Track days.. XP-10 and XP-12.. They make a TON of noise and a BOAT LOAD of dust and are not indicated for street use, but they don't fade when brake temps go through the roof at the track.... Seems like the Akebono Premium's are the way to go for GS/ Z06 guys on the street looking for a low dust ceramic pad.

AC Delco Ceramics is not offered for GS/Z06
Akebono Premium is not offered for GS/Z06 Hawks Ceramics are only offered for Coupe, Convertible or ZR1 not GS/Z06. What's the best option for GS/Z06 other than Carbothech??? |
Re-Best Solution Question
I changed My 427 Vert to premium ceramic padlets from Orielly Auto Parts. As I recall, the fronts were part # 1419 and the rears were 1419A. Both sets were around 100 bucks total. I can wipe the wheels inside and out with a dry microfiber after driving and get almost no brake dust. The replacement process was a snap. Also, virtually no squeaking. Orielly has both front and rear although I had to special order the rear set. Had everything within a couple of days. My understanding is that the pads are made by Bosch.
