That's how I was. It's was early in the day other people were in the parking lot and there was a camera 15 ft away on my car. Usually when I'm in and out of any of my cars like that I don't even think twice.

madmatt9471 07-21-2013 05:09 PM

WOW! That is bad!

Totalled! I hope you got an "AGREED UPON Value" or you are only going to get fair market value for it! :smash:

Thanks,Matt

Good thing they caught the cretins, though I imagine they left tons of DNA in the car, specially once they hit the tree.

The insurance co will prob try to total it, make sure you fight to get the most $$ you can. I had them once tell me my paint was crap and no leather. I sent pictures and also got credit for lots of mods. They will lie, so be prepared to prove your stuff...

They will do everything in their power to cheat you unless you have an agreed value, in WRITING. They tried to low ball my wife on a damn 04 Camry.

They use some book on the average selling price, not retail price. Well duh, some cars have 200K on them and are sold as a parts car while others are prestine.

And when you buy the insurance they go by retail value to set pricing.

EBCM but yours won't fit and it kinda looks like toast anyway.

I can't imagine the aggravation you're going through. Hope everything works out.

I know it's early but are you going to stay with C5 Z06?

Hope insurance treats you fairly.

unfortunately insurance WILL NOT cover a stolen vehicle if the keys are left in it...no matter what insurance company or what state you're in..

windzy 07-21-2013 08:12 PM

So if my car was at the gas pump and I ran inside for a soda they wouldn't cover it??

nope, not if you left your keys in the car...not under any circumstance..I forget what we call it, negligent ownership or something like that..I dont do insurance anymore..so I havent kept up with it..

good luck getting them to cover it..make sure you dont let them know you left the keys in the car!

Yes they will. He didn't give anyone permission to take off in his car. And don't start lying to them because they will find out if the guys who stole it used a key. That's part of the police investigation.

They may try to see if you knew the people who stole it and if you were late on payments etc. But in the end they should pay for it.

My nephew just went through this on a F150 that was stolen. he left his keys in it sitting on the street in front of his house.

That was my thought reading the entire post. :yesnod:

I would get a MOD to delete this entire post, because if the insurance company reads that the keys were left in the car....... your toast !

Be careful with your insurance due to your keys being left in the car. My friend had his car stolen after leaving his keys in the car and his insurance company fought him on the claim.

RetiredSFC 97 07-21-2013 08:42 PM

Don't listen to these guys. They will know if the people who stole it used a key. I'm guessing the key is still in the ignition.

As I said, my nephew just went through this.

Maxx_Z06 07-21-2013 08:45 PM
