Just curious.
If you had to buy a sports type of car. This car could not be a corvette. It had to be used. It also had to be under $30k. What would you buy?
First choice would be a viper second maybe a Porsche or something

NSX for me
Porsche, of course. I was talking to a Viper owner the other day, with a newer model , and he said it was basically a NASCAR car with a street body. Simple is good.
Sucking gas is bad. Perhaps a TRiumph TR250. |
Boxster S
None of thosee are for under 30k... Except maybe the boxster s or some old 911's.
1967 olds 442 4 speed, red with black int.
Boxster...Or Older 911
black match box has the right idea, i'd probly got with a 69 or 72/3 camaro, love those cars
Trans Am WS6
Probably a Porsche 911..
2005 GTO LS2, can't go wrong and you can get one under $20,000.
Mustang or Camaro . . .
new or used wth some muscle . . . |
I would go with a 70 Mach One Mustang or 69 Camaro SS (if I could find either under 30K)
I read that as "sports car" meaning a two seater, preferably a convertible, in which case an XKE or TR8. Not much of a Porsche fan, although I know they're excellent cars. :salute:
late 60's Firebird or early 70's TA...
I bought a Challenger R/T to keep the Vette and the Motorcycle company in the garage.

Just a little more room than a Camaro or Mustang. |
'50 - '53 brg xk120.
I like the vet Greg . It's looking real good. I have a issue with the steering being to heavy. I'm going to tackle soon. I'm Really liking my mods. Maybe a zo6 in the future.http://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/...1/image-21.jpghttp://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/...1/image-30.jpg
Porsche 911 for me
Mk4 Supra
T3 or Viper
Not so sure u can buy those for 30k
first choice would be 1970 SS/RS camaro w/ 396ci
second RX7 S5 turbo third a Viper if it would fit in the $ limitation |

or a M3 |
Either a '67 or '70 Chevelle SS vert or if a true sports car a BRG TR6
I'd probably go with one of several choices:
Mustang Camaro Buick GS (70-72) Chevelle SS Nova |
Easy a 05 or 06 Chevy SSr with the LS2 power plant. (Oh, I got one already, lol)
http://i1184.photobucket.com/albums/...psdd80574e.jpg |
An older 911.

A Plymouth Prowler and save my pennies for a LS swap!
Easy, BBC early 70 camaro.... |
308gts
I have a list of cars. My top 2 would be either a nsx or viper. Love the looks of both and around here you hardly see them, especially a nsx.

An Opel GT just because you don't hardly see them around, they look like mini vettes, and they are way under $30k.

Re: Viper.... The only thing you'll get for under $30k is a Gen I. Now, if you have a jones for those... cool. I am a Viper NUT, but Gen 2 (96-02) is, for me, the only option. When the market crashed in 08, I did see a number of CLEAN cars go for 30 to 40. A handful were lower, but beat. So a Viper for 30k... meh. Also... if the gaskets are bad from not being driven like so many are, big expense.
As to what I'd spend up to $30k on? Austin Healey 3000 Mk3 - buy the bones, add LS6/T56, new rims/suspension and brakes, then have it painted. Probably wrap it for about $20k. http://media.motortopia.com/files/15...arshow_054.jpg 1950 Chevy Pickup - swap to custom frame/suspension, but add LS6/auto ----> 90s Acura NSX.... but only if I could also afford to add a supercharger. Pricing on the base cars varies a lot. Porsche Cayman - kinda dooshy, but fun Detomaso Pantera (most are priced higher, but sometimes they come along) |
Unmolested late 90's Supra! I'd also look into the new Camaro.
Porsche 911, preferably early 90's coupe.
Always liked the old British cars. Might go with a Triumph TR3 or Austin Healey 3000. Maybe a Lotus Super Seven. Kinda like to have my old Bugeye back also!
Not power houses but, fun to drive. Sonny |
I might get a pontiac G8 and mod the hell out of it.
An old Ferrari 328 or Lotus Esprit!
A Porsche Boxster or Cayman I would not consider due to their "hidden engine" design. For me it would have to be a car where the hood can be opened to display an equally impressive looking engine. Porsches hide their engines away like they're the car's genitals or something. But they are nice vehicles with a lot of racing history, which I like. |
Corvette is the only Sportscar I would be interested in. Maybe one of those BMW boxsters wouldn't be bad. They sure do look nice.
wel , remember i'm OLD , i'd like a 34 ford coupe with an acura v6 and acura driveline . had a 32 with an olds v8 in it and sold it around 1961 . . . .for $500 .

Mustang GT

Mustang is my choice over a camaro
BMW M3 or Porsche 911
Z4 M Coupe or Vert
03-04 Mustang Cobra low mileage, near stock EVO IX |
2000 Boxster S was what I traded for the C5...except for that, it's not a bad choice, and very nice ones are available for a lot less that $30K. Have yet to see a Cayman for less than $32 or so.
With a full $30K and a lot more free garage space than I currently have, I'd do a Factory Five Cobra replica. But then I'd need at least one more garage bay, plus a truck to haul pieces around to machine shops etc, plus a place to park the bones of the donor car, plus... |
Well if it has to be a two seater then a Saturn Sky or Pontiac Solstace with LS1 or LS6 swap. Like Hot Rod magazine did a few years back.
Hey Tusc, is that your '64 Galaxy? Full size old Fords don't get a lot of play but they are really good looking cars.
Infiniti G35 6MT Coupe, still wish I had mine!
Given the OP's "under $30K" parameter, I would go for a 90's NSX for sure.

2013 Mustang Gt 6 spd. Iv'e driven a few this year when I have been on the road. They are hard to beat for what they cost. Good acceleration and they handle very well. Lot's of great mods available too.
I know it is a Blue Oval but it performs. |
