How awesome would it be if they kept the same LS7 with the same heads, same guides and valves, and just bumped the hp. :)

Gary '09 C6 07-12-2013 03:37 PM

yeah, does that just mean it'll break faster ?

That's not nice but keeping it N/A means it won't have a sqweaking blower after a road trip :D:cheers:

LOL...I just couldn't resist...what with all the valve-drama (sad) et al.

I do love both Corvette Z-cars. The LS7 issues are simply inexcusable IMO.

Well...at least all the parts needed to rebuild a blown LS7 in a C6Z would still be readily available. :D

Now this could be interesting, a 600HP LS7 crate motor...with the valve issue addressed, finally, I hope :hide:

Wild dreams

I knew i should not have started Chantix this week to stop smoking. Dr warned me about crazy dreams. AN LS7 powering the new C7! Please...... :D

If it's a DI LS7 then they would have to use a new cylinder head design. Due to injector placement and the intake ports would need to be raised to clear the fuel rails under intake manifold.

Direct injection ls7 would mean new heads also 6/8 operation oh and start stop at red lights thanks all you greenies. Oh I have a 2012 Z06 with 19,400 miles on it 2 years old this Aug. 26 we shall see how the heads play out unless my money ship comes in 69 retired.

I have a 2012 too with just over 12K miles. Do you plan to have your valve guides checked? I have not had mine checked.

Not at this time I will buy extend warranty next year and go from there.
They supposedly fixed problem in Feb. 2011 we shall see. Head should have a cast in date as to time and month produced it is most likely under the valve covers. So I can't tell what month mine were produced. I need to find out where this is. Heads are cast ahead of time so this may not be a good indicator. My car was produced in Aug 2011 number 2,226 car produced so very early z06.
Ext warranty prices are under 2000 so the 800 to check will go for extended warranty.

Mine was built in November 2011. Were they still making 2012s in Aug 2012?

I might consider an extended warranty but have already put an intake, headers and tuned mine so the 36 month bumper to bumper is all I have left.

Sorry for the confusion sitting here drinking coffee not thinking that is Aug 2011 corrected in my org. post what is the last five of vin that will tell you how many vetts were produced up to that point 427's and zr1's have diff vin numbering. With only 482 z06 produced not many out there.

You can have ext warranty it will fix items not related to the engine I think.

BlueOx 07-14-2013 11:41 AM

Maybe an LT7...with AFM!

So mine is about three months newer than yours. Hope GM had both of our valve trains fixed.

My last five are 05642. Doesn't seem to coincide with 482 total made.

SCM_Crash 07-14-2013 02:14 PM

I don't think this article is at all right. It would assume that another motor was being built. I don't believe that's the case unless 3 performance trims will be available... again.

The LT1 was obviously designed to ouput more power/torque than it's outputting now. The CAD drawings show a blower on it.

My guess is that - unless there's a 3rd variant they're working - the Z06 will be a blown LT1.
