CRYSTAL RED, What color interior?

Hi,
Ordering CRM, torn between Black or Kalahari interior. Kalahari looks tan in some pictures and much darker in others. Any suggestions?

Sin City 07-06-2013 12:04 PM

Kalarai I think is best but black is safe. To me, straight black interiors are nice but a bit simple.

Glenmcp 07-06-2013 12:06 PM

I am going with CRM and Kalahari. I agree the pictures of Kalahari are all over the place. At some point I had to make a decision as my number six at my dealer will most likely come up next month. So, Kalahari it is.

Eagle3sh 07-06-2013 12:08 PM

If you want the 3LT then go with Kalarai but if you are ok with the 2LT then I would choose the black or gray. I do not like the 2LTs in anything but black and gray. Too much is left black or gray in the 2LTs regardless of what the other interior colors are.

Good point. I went with 3LT because there was too much black on the 2LT.

Agreed. The one thing that is interesting with the interior design of the C7 is the way they made the 3LT version have some color variation in the dash other than black.

To me, I would like to use that even if it costs 4 grand more. It has a more interesting look.

Snorman 07-06-2013 12:20 PM

I was torn between black and kalahari, but chose black (2LT car).

:iagree: I went with Kalahari on my Crystal Red order. I have had shades of tan in 2 of my last 3 cars and currently have black. My son mentioned something about my black interior recently and I had to stop and think because I couldn't remember what color my interior was. That never happened with either "tan" I had. Of course, maybe it is just a sign that my memory is going :willy:. The only issue I had with this combo of colors is that it reminds me of Ferrari, see pictures from another thread of the Ferrari and C7 posted together. Black is safe though. FYI, the thread is about seeing the CR at Bloomington and changing their mind about their original order, it has the best pictures of the Crystal Red that I have seen posted.

mpuzach 07-06-2013 12:40 PM

If I was getting a CRM C7 I'd go with the 2LT Ash Gray interior. As much as I wish I could, I just can't get into any shades of brown for a car interior. It's just a personal preference.

Marc VERO 07-06-2013 12:47 PM

Gray is intresting. How dark a gray is it. I was having a hard time with Black or Kalahari, now Gray. Difficult choice.

AmmoVet 07-06-2013 12:58 PM

Glad to see I'm not alone. I have a Monty red c6 and can't imagine it with the new gray interior, it is a very light shade of gray. Should I go with the CRM I might go with the Brownstone. If I go with Blade silver I'm leaning toward a black interior. I'm waiting til the 2016 MY anyway so I've time to play and anticipate lots of changes to the order book.

Thanks for the picture. That really is a light gray. I wish it was a bit darker. I also have a Monty red with a saddle interior. That looks good, I cant picture light gray in that car.

Eagle3sh 07-06-2013 01:13 PM

The C7 Gray is not at all like those pictures. It's much darker. Find a picture of all the seat colors and you will be able to see exactly how dark it is.

Sorry to disagree but I took mine at the bash and the picture shown by me an the other are spot on. Too lite for a darker red color car!

skank 07-06-2013 02:21 PM

I think the Brownstone might actually be the most dramatic with CRM. I'd get some samples and test it.

Accurate Color-Tone Kalahairi and Gray Interior Pictures

I have seen so many interior pictures posted that show inaccurate color tone, and unfortunately some folks are making ordering decisions based on them. I agree with some of the above statements that some of the earlier pictures are lighter, some darker than they actually are. Having been next to C7's on several occasions, here are the two pictures that most accurately reflect exactly how they are in real life.

The gray just doesn't do it for me.

St!ngray 07-06-2013 02:36 PM

As others have said I also change mine from 2LT to 3LT and will go with Kalahari.

Out of curiosity, what would be your first choice of interior with Laguna Blue?

Marc VERO 07-06-2013 02:37 PM

Have to stay safe and go CRM with black interior

What color wheels do you plan on getting? I think it makes a big difference on interior color choice, especially with CRM.

If you plan on getting black wheels and black carbon fiber roof the Kalahari interior may not go as well with the car. Black would be the better choice. However, as someone already mentioned black is too conservative and doesn't show enough contrast with the remaining interior.

If on the other hand you don't get black wheels and roof the Kalahari looks better in my opinion.

Tough decisions.....

StingRaycer 07-06-2013 02:50 PM

My CRM will have the Kalahari interior.
I actually didnt order the 3LT Kalahari because I dont want a light dash, I am afraid it will reflect on the windshield.
The CRMS with Kalahari look great to me
I saw the Kalahari at Bowling Green and I really liked the color.

Turbo6TA 07-06-2013 02:54 PM

Just me, but I think the 2LT Kalahari looks very nice with the CRM exterior paint.

Just the right mix of tan and black ... I don't much care for the tan on the dash of the 3LT

2LT

I agree but that picture you are showing is actually a 1LT interior.

My preference would be a 2LT over a 3LT with Kalahari since I also don't like a light colored dash. The 2LT seems to have the right mix of Black and Kalahari for my taste.

Turbo6TA 07-06-2013 03:02 PM

I don't think the Kalahari is available in the 1LT

Not sure if it is or not but that pic is definitely not a 2LT interior for the C7 coupe. Maybe it's a convertible pic or a marketing pic.

Turbo6TA 07-06-2013 03:20 PM

Well, I checked the order guide ... Kalahari is only available on the 2LT and 3LT.

and I know the 3LT Kalahari looks like this:

sesame60 07-06-2013 03:35 PM

Hmmm....very interesting. I thought the 2LT had the additional color on the doors (behind the handles), the passenger side between the air vents, and the outline around the dash as in the link below. Not sure why Kalahari seems to be different in the pics you showed.

What you are describing is the 3LT red & gray. 2LT is only seats, console & armrests. Kalahari & Brownstone are the only ones with full dash (and of course Black) That is what convinced me to pay the extra for 3LT Kalahari.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Big Hammer 07-06-2013 04:53 PM

I ordered my CRM with 2LT black and nav.

Durnberg 07-06-2013 04:56 PM

Why is Crystal Red referred to as CRM? I thought is was Crystal Red Tintcoat and what's a Tintcoat besides $995 in cost? Is there a difference between Tintcoat and metallic or regular paint in the application of the car's paint? Just wondering.

fishingdan 07-06-2013 05:02 PM

Definitely the kalahari IMO.

I started this thread, decided on black....but after that picture I'm back to Kalahari

That is a bitching look for the interior and would go great with the CRM. Decisions decisions... :leaving:

I agree

Saw a black/beige interior on a 3LZ ZR1 and I thought the beige passenger air bag cover looked ridiculous

I think CRM with painted alum wheels and light grey interior would look real nice.

.......... and for an added bonus you will not see too many of them

Tintcoat is a metallic paint with tinting in the what would normally be clearcoat for regular metallic paint. This makes the metallic paint appear richer. You are correct in that people should be referring to it as CRT, rather than CRM.

Michael

Turbo6TA 07-06-2013 09:15 PM

My mistake ... Calling Crystal Red Tintcoat "CRM" is not correct.

It is NOT Crystal Red Metallic.

It is a better paint that a standard metallic, and that's why it costs damned near a thousand bucks as an option!

From now of forward, it should be "CRT" ... Crystal Red Tintcoat

Agree ? ? ?

Durnberg 07-06-2013 09:46 PM

Thanks, I am very new to all this but almost every reference I've seen to the Crystal Red refers to it as CRM and at first I wasn't sure what they were talking about. I guess CR works also but for the extra $1000 it should have a third initial. CRT, yeah that works for me.

Kalahari!!

I vote for gray. It would make a nice contrast to CR and the seats wouldn't get nearly as hot when exposed to the sun.

Bill B 1 07-08-2013 10:39 PM

CRT with Brownstone for me. I think it will be quite striking.

Mike Campbell 07-10-2013 12:02 PM

Someone on this forum posted a CRM with the Kalahari interior and it clashed. The Kalihari looks orange next to the CRM. I would go with black or grey. I have not seen the brownstone at all.

vetehead 07-10-2013 01:17 PM

If it were me and going CRM i would go light gray I love that contrast with torch red or crm!
