Best color wheel for pewter?
Torn with wheel color/options,
Love the polished aluminum on my car right now (stock thin-spokes) However, some color corvettes look great with black, some look great with chrome, some look awesome with a brushed finish or colored wheels or all of the above! The best looking set up (IMHO) I've seen is chrome/polished or black with a chrome/polished lip on a pewter Vette. Somehow though, imagining anything different than that seems to just clash with the color. I am saving for some forgestars (not set in stone thought) next year and just want to know if I am missing any combinations that look good with this color. What do you guys like on pewter? Would love to see pics of pewter Vettes with aftermarket wheels!!!! |
Pewter with Chrome really pulls the pop out of the pewter.

Here are 2 samples of chrome and polished. Mr.Bill C6 5 spoke chrome. FIKSE FM10 3 piece forged. |
Chrome, brushed, or light gun metal, but I wouldn't go with black or any other dark colors IMO
|
After owning a Pewter C5 for 6 years I would suggest a set of Polished / Chrome CCW's. I always wanted these for my car. I agree black wheels detract from the beauty of Pewter

I have Motorsport Z06 black face rims with machined lip with rivets. Check them out in at West Coast Corvette or Mid America Corvette

Awesome! Thanks for the replies!!! Other wheels (in addition to the above) I would love to have would be the CCW T10 or SP500's but I don't quite have the funds for them... :(
Those Mosports do look good!!! Just not quite what I am looking for myself as I want something that looks a little more aftermarket in appearance, but still looks like it belongs...doesn't weigh much more than the thin-spokes, I can afford.... etc, etc. That's why I'm leaning towards the F14's....but still want to see what others have as I am still open to ideas and appreciate people's input! Very classy looking Mr. Bill. Yes, Toques Z....anyone that does not know his car has not been on here very long! |

black with a chrome/polished lip on a pewter Vette. |

:iagree:, However, there just seems to be a tint to the pewter paint that doesn't make it as versatile as silver for wheel color options.

I know no one has the balls to rock this on here...but this was at a Hellaflush meet in LA...fantastic color combo....

Chrome ZR-1 replica wheels were my choice.

I agree with the other responses, polished aluminum or chrome looks best with Pewter, not a fan of black.
I love the look of the TSW Nurburgring's with the polished spoke faces...... http://i719.photobucket.com/albums/w...pse70ee790.jpg |
I had a pewter C5 for seven and a half years and always found the chrome/high polished wheels gave it the best look. That's what I would suggest.
|
I always felt Pewter and MSG need wheel bling because the colors don't pop like red or yellow and have a more subdued elogence. I hear the word "classy" alot at shows.
A black wheel IMO would not add to the color, but detract from it. I would suggest polished some type of brushed hypersilver. Below are pics of my CCW polished wheels and my previous set of Ace Slick Hyperblack wheels. I received compliments on both sets, however from certain angles, the Hyerblack seemed too dark at times. http://i499.photobucket.com/albums/r...psbc7fc178.jpg http://i499.photobucket.com/albums/r...cs/Detail3.jpg |

My favorites are machine finished or polished aluminum.

Chrome or gunmetal looks best IMO

color for pewter
when i bought my pewter coupe it had the magnesium wheels on it, looked pretty good, but later changed to polished thin spoke with grey lug nut covers. i would not trade my thin spokes for any other wheel, just my two cents............
|
http://http://forums.corvetteforum.c...914-146303.jpgMy choice was the replica C6 Z06 Spyders chrome of course.

color wheel for pewter
The TSW Nurburgring's look great! They need the big brake kit to go along with them. I'd put these on my '99 Hardtop.
|
Awesome. I'm loving the pictures so far! Thanks Guys!!! Boy I wish I could afford a set of CCW's....maybe a few more years down the line... But for now, really enjoying what you guys are saying!

That is the first pewter I've seen with the mag wheels! Cool!
Old fuddy duddies are definitely allowed to give their opinion! Thank you! Can't wait until next year!!! The decision is going to be difficult but fun! MotoJB, I thought you would be pushing the F14's! I love them on your car!!! |
|
Saw a set on Flebay that were deep dish black and chrome. They would look sweet on pewter! I have all chrome now, lot's of bling, looking to make the switch as well....

You could always go with a factory magnesium. Lighter is better.

Very nice! Choices, choices..... That will be the hardest and funnest part!
|
I have been wanting some C6 chrome 5 spokes for quite some time for our pewter. I was talking with my new neighbor last week and he has a set which I will be picking up tomorrow. I'll have to check around the neighborhood, maybe someone has a set of PS2s to mount on them !!!:D
|
|
i kind of dig the silver with a little gunmetal black added, kind of like these tsw nurburgrings in a custom color
probably add a little more black for pweter http://i1339.photobucket.com/albums/...ps100344e2.jpg |
IMO, polished aluminum, at least on the rim lip, maybe do the center spoke area in a gunmetal metallic finish if you don't want the whole wheel polished.

Found a company at Bloomington Gold called Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists that will come take the wheels off and take them back to their shop do the work and return them with a 2 week turn around. Opinions???

Yes it is......... |
Can never go wrong with Chrome or polished aluminum.
Black only works with black (and in certain conditions, yellow chrome)and it needs some kind of offset like chrome accents or color matching). |
|
Here is a gun metal on pewter. Well I think the car is pewter anyway. Not my car but I just bought these wheels and they are going on my 01 silver z

Where's Toque when we really need him? ;)

Here's my spiral gray with black Cray Scorpions with the polished lip. I think I like the stealth look of the darker gray and black wheels, although you can certainly make a case for polished wheels too. These were on the car when I bought it.
