Doesn't GM offer a Camaro with even more power for less money?

The final numbers not enough to outweigh the huge discounts on c6's. I will be waiting a few years for next motor in the Stingray. Headed to Columbus in the morning to pick up a Midnight race blue 427 from Rick Conti. Insane pricing, landed mine for nearly $14000.00 below sticker. 505 hp will keep me quite happy for a few years.

Btw, he has more....

Greg always an honor and appreciation to do business with you sir....
Congrats - you are a true enthusiast, I love it!

Thanks for bring some family up this time....

Most big Corvette sellers have more 427's at great prices. Of you are looking for for gonzo horsepower they also have good deals on ZR1's. if that is your motivation.

All of us who have ordered C7's know those deals are around. We bought the new car for more then a horsepower number. I can equate this to a young man growing up and finding there is more to woman then cup sizes. It is the whole person or the whole car which make both of them desirable.

I don't know about you but bigger cup sizes and more HP are always more fun. :D

Rick, 200 mile drive home. The 427 buttoned up had the exact feel of our Z06's. Drop the top though and the WOW factor quadrupled. Z06 punch and handling in the open air. Keeping in mind I was on the street and not the track, there were never any handling issues on SR 93 to indicate the car had a heavier steel frame. The ZR1 has the obvious advantage in grunt and acceleration but ride is as good in the 427 thanks to the MSR. I don't mean to degrade our Grand Sport convertible, but its not even close in the pull and handling of the 427. The torque of the LS7 is fantastic. I guess if I have to rank the 3 on fun factor for me it would be

1. Coughlin 427. Z06 convertible, Nuff said
2. Coughlin ZR1. Track monster (not ours, wife would kill me. Spring Mountains :woohoo:)
3. Coughlin Grand Sport Vert. The daily driver and C7 trade bait.

Guess all can tell we are Conti Converts...

I completely agree! Recently picked up a 4LT GS coupe for $20,000 off with all rebates and incentives. Spent an extra $2500 and added 100hp to it with a cam and all the bolt-ons. The base stingray was a real disappointment to me performance-wise :yesnod:

The problem with the Camaro is that it's got a rear end that looks like it came off a Stingray.

As awesome as I think the C7 will turn out to be, I certainly cannot fault anyone for grabbing a new C6 right now either, especially at a severe discount.
C6s are still amazing cars, ESPECIALLY the 427s and Z06s.

Perhaps the C6 forums would be better...I'm pretty sure that all the people that are now uninterested in the base C7 because of the "lackluster" HP figures have moved on to their respective forums by now. For those of us unswayed by this news we'll continue to root for the "woefully underpowered" C7 and likely enjoy it all the same. 455HP is just a hop, skip, and a set of longtube headers paired with a decent intake away from 500HP, so I don't see it as a detractor from the car but as a solid base to build upon!

And a voided warranty, A $60K plus new car without a warranty?:ack: BTW as this topic involves the C7 engine vs the Z engine,I think this part of the forum is the perfect venue.

I think you made a good choice congrats..it's going to be at least 2 years before we see the the big hp #'s in the C7.

TXshaggy 05-26-2013 09:58 AM

The 427 Vert is a very sweet ride and attractively priced -- great choice! However, a heavily discounted 427 Vert is at the same price point as a very well equipped C7 Vert. If HP is the only consideration you made the right call! Understand 455 is unofficial, but would ask the OP what would have sufficed 465, 475, 485...? Doesn't seem we're talking a lot of HP difference to disregard all the C7 improvements, albeit some are personal taste such as styling...

OBTW, I purchased a heavily discounted new C5 Z06 from a forum vendor after seeing the C6.

Cheers
Shaggy

Nice car. It's amazing how much they're discounting the C6's right now. I love the ZO6 with the carbon fiber hood and cup wheels. I will until we see actual road tests and real C7's hitting the track before passing judgment on the C7. A loaded Z51 with performance exhaust, competition seats and MRC is right about the same price as this car, but I have a feeling the C7 will not disappoint. Only time will tell.
