For two reasons...
1. We are running out of things to talk about without a real car yet :D 2. Some peoples e-peens grow based on the HP figure of their car's engine (regardless as to the impact on actual performance) so the bigger the number, the bigger the e-peen. :yesnod: This C7 has grown like some legend, absent all facts To my memory: First it was, better seats Then, advanced electronics Then, new shape to attract younger buyers Then, better fuel economy Then, faster than a C6 Then, faster than a Z06 Then, like a jet-fueled dragster on E85 Does it sprout wings and fly? Next, it comes with a year of car washes by pit crew girls in mini-skirts... :D People will be upset if it ONLY has 455HP |
 That was great!

Yeah, in full disclosure, my note is somewhat tongue-in-cheek.

The main reason the z51 will perform on a track close to a c6z is the new Michelin tires compared to the original eagle runflats on the c6z, which is why they may run similar lap times. Sure GM will spin it differently like saying its the new magnetic suspension, stiffer frame, better steering response, etc. but besides the tires and closer ratio trans, no way a c7 will perform as well as a c6z (on equal tires). Of course a dct down the road may change all of that.

I currently own a 2013 GS with 3000 miles on spedo and bought it because of the body style. When I first seen the pictures of C7 I fell in love with the style and improvements. My kids inheritance will be decreased as soon as my order comes in. If the hp is 450 hp it is an increase over 426hp that I have now. The looks more than make up the difference in hp that some people wish for. If you are not going to buy a C7 what difference does it make. And NO I am not rich. I believe that I can piss my money away as good or better than my kids can.

I guess I look at it differently, perhaps because this will be my first Corvette.
It's a beautiful, stunning vehicle, with incredible colors available, a whole new level of sophistication, and even spotting the Camaro ZL1 OVER 100 HP, it appears that it will at least be its match, if not a bit faster. I guess my viewpoint is, unless you are going to track the car, or for simple bragging rights, how much HP is ever enough? How many are really ever going to really use that much power consistently. I currently have a 09 Challenger RT, love it, has more than enough power, and of the 3 pony cars, is the best looking and truest to the retro look. The Stingray will absolutely smoke the Challenger (even if it was an SRT). I, for one, think this Corvette is going to be something very special, and am looking forward to being a First time Corvette owner  The 436hp LS3 was not near enough for me... But that's just me |

I think it will only have 450 HP but to make those people feel better maybe GM should announce the power in WATTS. The converted value would then be 335,565 WATTS. That's a big number and it really sounds impressive.

Excellent point. I usually use newton meter-hours when people ask, but watts are way more intuitive.

But what about that rear end? :leaving:
