Yesterday, almost a year later, I went to Royal Purple Raceway for a private track rental sponsored by Texas Speed Syndicate. On the third pass of the day, I finally achieved my goal of running 9's with a stock cam only LS1.

If I was Texas I would buy you a beer or a few-maybe even more....You deserve it.

bad ass pass!!! what kinda tire pressure did you end up at?

Ended up at 16 psi hot. They would cool off to 14 or so psi, but once I did the burnout, they would be at 16. I may try 15 psi the next time out.

Any vibrations from the DSS carbon shaft? I'd like to know even if it's just a tiny bit.

It feels smoother to me than stock. There may be a little additional noise at idle, but it's hard to say because of the twin disk and aluminum flywheel. It maintains mph very well between shifts and really accelerates once the clutch is re-engaged.

What rpm shifting at???:thumbs::thumbs:

On this pass, every shift was right at 6450 to 6500 if I recall from the log. I think there is still room to experiment some, but I do remember that every shift felt just right.

Thanks for consulting with me this past week. I made some tweaks after the first two passes based on what we discussed and the third pass was money.

Corvette0096 05-06-2013 08:15 PM

Hope you have better luck than I did with the 918 spring..

road pilot 05-06-2013 08:25 PM

Very good..
Now all you need is a cage, chute and the rest of the stuff to be
legal at the track.

Chris Stewart 05-06-2013 11:58 PM

Congrats, that is no small feat. I know Clemsondave would be proud. You are now in the 9 second hall of fame for stock motor and 6-speed. :woohoo:

regorih 05-07-2013 12:23 AM

Let me be the first to say congrats!

winters97gt 05-07-2013 08:00 AM

I have your lower 60ft pass uploaded, Ben. Car was heading to an easy 9.8 after that launch...

Done race gas and cooler air, I think a 9.6-9.7 is doable. Congrats again!
