Were you ever a ricer???DONT LIE!!!

I will be honest, when I graduated high school imports were all the rage and shortly after graduation I bought a stock 90 civic SI hatchback and over time added full bodykit, cross drilled slotted brake rotors, fiberglass hood, molded sides, camber kit, dc sports headers, tenzo R intake, 2 and qrtr inch piping, 17" axis wheels powder coated white to compliment my blue paint, projector headlights, etc. etc...it was 14 yrs ago and I was 20yrs old and my old man had real hp with a 64 El Camino which I grew up with so I knew my car was slow but it got all the attention in my local area...here she is, all you younger guys man up and show your "ricer" pics...unless im all alone:hide::hide::hide:

The only car I've owned that could be considered rice-ish was a '95 Dodge Neon my parents gave me when they bought my sister a brand new car. It was bright green, and burned oil, but it had AC and it ran. It was my daily driver when I also had my Z28. I've always had a special hatred for ricers, being as they were always the ones causing sh*t and getting the cops called while the rest of us muscle car guys were just hanging out and talking. They'd do huge smokey burnouts, wreck into each other, street race, and general stupidity. All in all, it's safe to blame them for the death of some great cruising and hang out spots, all thanks to that garbage movie Fast and the Furious.

I've thrown rice at a wedding but never owned a rice burner, never will.

Monza, Mustang, S10 Blazer, S10 Blazer 4dr, Tahoe, Vette, Tahoe.

Your Honda looks like it came from one of those movies. Good to hear you have fond memories of owning it...

That's most of what matters.

Thanks for sharing..

No all US made cars.

boraxman 04-25-2013 12:33 AM

Never in my life/:smash:

ExRedRacer 04-25-2013 12:35 AM

Nope.

All my cars before I got the Vette were Camaros and Firebirds...had to transport my 2 kids and couldn't squeeze them into a Corvette.

I did put side-pipes on my '74 Camaro though...does that count?

brooklync5 04-25-2013 12:36 AM

Nope not me but I do have an infatuation with the wrx sti :hide:

I grew up in the muscle car era and owned only Chevy vehicles. Whether they were 4wd trucks or SS396,SS454 Chevelles,L-88's or a couple Z-28's........never a 4 door or a ricer. I guess I was too proud and would walk rather than be in a vehicle like a "ricer". But that's me,but like I said,I grew up in that era and had these teens today had the opportunity like I had, they too would be like me.

C6ROLLER 04-25-2013 12:45 AM

Haha I knew this would happen, lucky for me my old man showed me what real hp was all about early on, I always loved the shoebox Chevy's (55 56 57) as a kid...but at the time I got my license imports were ridiculously popular so I naturally gravitated towards them...most are not quick however some are true sleepers but require too much money to make them fast..anyway I love American muscle and that's why I bought my vette and not an FRS, however I do have some respect for the Acura NSX.

JoesC5 04-25-2013 12:46 AM

Yes. When my step dad had to quit driving in 1998 I bought his 1990 Honda Civic station wagon to use as a winter beater. It was missing a hub cap so I purchased a set of plastic hubcaps at Walmart to "Rice" it out. Really surprised me how everyone's attitude towards the car changed.

Consider your audience. The average Corvette owner is a 49-63 or older white male with a household income of greater than $100,000... these are people who couldn't care less about a twin turbo Civic SI that runs 13.1 @ 109 mph.

I like fast cars in general. Unfortunately for the ricer guys, 99.8% are slower than they were from the factory due to heavy body kits and 300 pounds of bondo and 3M double sided tape. Oh, and they sound like a drunken trumpeter. :lolg:

In the 80's and 90's:
Toyota Celia, Supra
1977 Datsun 280z
1971 Datsun 240z
1974 Datsun 260z
1993 Camaro z28
1987 Buick Regal T-type turbo
and probably a few more Datsun 240z's
including one with a Chevy V8 4 speed. In those days the Datsun/Nissans were fairly cheap and we had good mechanics.
Even now I got a 6 speed V6 Altima to go with my Corvette and 2010
Nissan Titan truck which is for sale...........16k with 27k miles. 28k when I get back from Vegas.........Only been driving Corvettes about 10 years

Label me anyway you like, but in addition to my Z06 I currently own a Mazdaspeed3. It is my daily driver.

It has a set of basic bolt ons and it puts down around 280~rwhp and 325~rwtq. I track it occasionally. It isn't nearly as quick as the Z06 but its pretty decent for such an inexpensive, practical, and reliable car. It has huge mid range torque and such short gearing it feels pretty darn quick and peppy. I bet it could take a modern LS3 Camaro SS or LS1 4th Gen Fbody from a roll.

Also used to own an RX8 and Miata. Two of the best handling cars ever made.

ricer? :U

Not in this lifetime

bladex10 04-25-2013 01:58 AM

Always been a Mustang/Camaro guy. I watched the first 3 Fast and Furious movies when i was a young teen, All my friends went the import route and i had a 1983 Camaro Z28 that i bought for $500 bucks in 2007 that barely even ran and smoked like crazy. That $500 car is what kicked off my obsession with automotives and i'm now heading down an automotive career path thanks to that pos.

I want to eventually build a Miata for a full blown track car

Not sure it's prudent to put a 305 or 320hp LS1 and a 426hp LS3 in the same category. You MAY take the LS1 from a roll, to 110mph, then it's over. Assuming it's stock.

The new SS? Dream on.
