Is this a re-stamp??

From a 1970 LT-1 on eBay:

This is the WORST engine stamp I've ever seen.

"This a numbers matching automobile."

They're right.

BeansWorld 04-25-2013 01:14 AM

Thanks Mike, I've never seen a stamp quite like this one. Nice car though.

:iagree:

I'm keeping that picture as an example of, "numbers matching" doesn't necessarily mean "original"... :willy:

Hi,
What would make someone put that braided sheathing on the w/s washer hoses?
Regards,
Alan

Being held at gunpoint. That's also how the pad was stamped.

:D

Looks like a ransom note.

Too bad it doesnt say anything about Bunny Lebowski, and "no funny business"

jaxlt1 04-25-2013 09:19 AM

He can stamp any engine pad with one hand tied around his back.

7T1vette 04-25-2013 09:57 AM

Must have hired a cross-eyed, one-armed man to do the re-stamp!

mark6669 04-25-2013 10:21 AM

I like the remains of the original stamp in the back ground or maybe the hammer was a little bouncy.

AirwolfPJ 04-25-2013 10:39 AM

I sent him a message asking about it. We'll see what he says.

His ad is 100% accurate. What's the problem?

He was a fool when he bought it in 1997, and he'll sell it to a fool.

Something tells me participation was a little low that day.

Lets give him some credit here, he put a picture of the weird stamping in his ad.

Brooklinite 04-25-2013 12:36 PM

Its not a bad-looking car if you don't open the hood.

Alan 71 04-25-2013 01:12 PM

Hi,
I just looked again.... the odometer digits are as crooked as the stamped digits.
Matching Numbers!

Alan

The really scary thing is the number of bidders and the current high bid (which is still lower than his reserve)! Is it me, or, does the bidding look a bit high for that car even if it was all original, which it obviously isn't!

Most folks don't know this, but odometers back in the day showed white bars BETWEEN the numbers when the odometer was backed up ( like with a drill motor ). Check out his ad and you'll see what I mean.
