They said they sold them all at $15k over MSRP. BS
Some car dealers are even more full of s%^t than I thought.

No one mentioned the cost of waiting another year or two if you have a newer trade. That trade is depreciating year after year. In my case I can qualify for a supplier discount which say is worth $5K. But if I wait a year my trade could be worth $5K less. Seems like a wash.

Biggest problem I see buying from a large far away Forum dealer with a 14..... If your local dealer is not trained to service it........what do you do?

If your trade is not paid off yet, then by waiting a year you will probably have more equity in the trade because the amount of principle you paid in 12 months is usually greater than the depreciation over that same period, especially of the car is 3+ years old.

So how far is this dealer from St. Louis?:D

Interesting conversation with my salesman today. This particular dealer is very Corvette centric and works with two local Corvette clubs.

I'm buying my car at MSRP with no additional charges. They have a fairly nice allocation, over 60 cars, and will be ordering some stock cars to sell. He mentioned that in the past, when Corvettes with limited availability have initially been introduced (think Z06), dealers without allocation will come to them and offer $5,000-$15,000 over MSRP, because they will have a buyer willing to pay more than that over MSRP, but no allocation. He said he expects all of their stock cars will go for more than $10,000 over MSRP, and that many will be sold to other non-allocation dealers. ONLY those customers who have already put down a (refundable) deposit and ordered a car will be getting theirs at guaranteed MSRP.

My local dealer wrote a contact selling me mine at MSRP. I paid a $2000 deposit and had an order number 2 days later, now status 3000. I couldn't be happier with AutoNation Chevrolet in Peoria, AZ.

Reliable is a top 50 Corvette dealer and MacMulkin is #2 in Corvette sales. Looks like some very stupid people are buying their new C7's for UNDER MSRP, not thousands OVER MSRP. I bet that Reliable's and MacMulkin customers get their C7's early in the production run(first on their block at less than MSRP).

But, if you want to pay thousands over MSRP, there is a dealer looking for you. Something about a fool and his money are soon parted.

I have dealt with Wes at Reliable when I bought my 2011. Very good experience. My understanding is their allocations are sold out for the 2014 model year. I am getting my C7 from Fichtner Chevy, and placed my order a couple of months ago at MSRP - I am number 5 on his list of 6 convertible allocations, so I'm looking at March/April delivery next year. I've only had my '13 GS for nine months, so I can wait....

I assume you're in AZ... What dealership? I believed I talked to all of them and Gateway in Avendale were the only douchebags saying they aren't selling at MSRP. I got mine in Peoria and no waiting. :bs

Edit: oops... I see you were calling someone else out on BS.

There may be a lot of preorders in the books but taking into account the release will be in the (bad timing) fall, the fact that the economy sucks, and the fact that many will wait for the bugs to be worked coupled with not wanting to pay MSRP it would be prudent for those who don't have to have the first builds to wait. Supply and demand is what makes the world of cars go round, believe me if cars start to sit on dealer lots going into the winter watch how fast the dealers boxers hit their ankles.

Anybody still blaming the economy on their problems are looking for excuses. The economy is moving along pretty nicely now and is expected to continue. If its politics you're soap boxing, stop it because you're giving your competition all the growth going on now while you play whoa is me.

If the large forum dealers are doing the same (selling at MSRP) what's to stop the buyers from buying local versus our forum dealers taking into consideration the costs of buying remote. I realize the logistics of the allocation process for the large dealers but I do not think that will be enough of an advantage to not consider buying local.
I feel that the CF Dealers will have to discount the C7's by an amount to offset the advantages of buying local at MSRP.
Just my thoughts......can anyone remember what the large dealers did with pricing with the introduction of the C6's?

Buying "local?" Pffft!

I'd be surprised if my local dealer has more than one C7 allocation.

Edit: And I'll wager he's gonna have a $10K "market adjustment" on any car he gets. I will guarantee you most of the small-town Chevy dealers are not going to sell C7's for MSRP, and that they will also be hard-pressed to get you a car. I've been to this party before - big promises, no allocation.

Where did GM begin its enterprise? We all know Detroit right? What major US city just filed for bankruptcy protection due to billions of debt? Detroit! Some states are about to file. Forget politics my friend, if you or anyone thinks the economy is doing well than it's time to get out from under that rock!

The 900 dealers that will be selling the C7's initially, sell 80% of the Corvettes sold. The remaining 2,000 dealers don't sell that many Corvettes.

The top 50 dealers sell 34% of the Corvettes sold.

I can't believe that the top 50 Corvette dealers only sell 34% of the total....are you sure about this?
