You should have a good run with the upgrades. You may break 200 in the Magnum, if you have the safety equipment to Tech for that.

I'm told they'll issue a 2 MPH buffer....I'd just like to have an official 200 MPH certificate. And, the current setup would definetly sail thru 200 in the Magnum......I'll lay off the throttle once I hit the number and stay within the legal and safety guidelines. I was impressed when you ran the number you did last year, given the weather conditions
Basically to tech 200 you will need to do a mile run right near 150 if you've never run a similar event before, then they'll upgrade your driver classification for the next run in the 170 range then upgrade further. For Tech 200 the driver will need a full race suit and arm restraints, helmet, gloves, etc. and the car will need Y or (Y) rated tires and at least a 5-pt harness. They Tech C6's for 200 with the standard roof (roll bar not required). I have a harness bar, 5-pt harness and full SCCA race gear including HANS. PM me if you want more info, Victor. |
I lost control at 175 and drifted...I saved it:woohoo:
It scared me lol I had some lift occurring in a fender wheel, which is why this happened... |

They give a 5 MPH buffer in the classes. Check the rules for safety equipment. It is likely that you either have what's OK to Tech at 170 (+5) or Tech to 200 (+5). See: http://www.mojavemile.com/index.php?...d=10&Itemid=11

Sorry for thread jack, OP. I think the Mohave Magnum event is the ONLY event where a stock Z06 has any chance of of touching the 200 MPH....legally. |

I don't normally expect the HUD to be that accurate as it usually 1 MPH high at 70 MPH indicated; the speedo is another 1 MPH off at that speed. Maybe there is some tire growth at the high trap speeds although the DIC was indicating 141.3 MPH average for a true 140 in the Silver State Challenge event. Now that the tires are worn I expect more of a variance. I got an odometer reading of 91.3 miles over the 90.0 mile Silver State Challenge course with the nearly new PSS and got 88.8 miles indicated over that same distance with the somewhat worn Nitto NT-05's in 335/30-19 size. For the Silver State, I drive up to Ely, NV in the reverse direction of the course and calibrate the odometer the day before the event with the tires I'll run, just to get a better idea how far off the odo and likely DIC average speeds are to help me get the car close to my target average speed in the event. In the last two events I got 2nd places with variances of 0.19 and 0.26 seconds over the 90 mile route, using the in-car data, a stopwatch and the mile markers (they go by fast at 140-160 MPH. OP, I hope this is all of interest to you and not a thread hijack. |
