O'hh this interior looks vastly improved.
Suede like material lining the inside A pillars is very nice.
Lots of real leather trim, what's going on here ?
This is a great panoramic view of the inside – happy , happy.

Don’t know about that carbon fiber dash though …..
Excellent - thanks.

VETTEMANN 02-14-2013 09:48 PM

Like the seats. Not sold on the carbon fiber look yet - pictures don't make it look very real (looks like it has a dull finish?).

I don't want a shiny surface on my dash.

OHV4LIFE 02-14-2013 10:01 PM

Looking through the rear there appears to be a huge blind spot.

HurricaneRN 02-14-2013 10:01 PM

I'll be interested to see how much the finish tightens up on the production models. Sounds like some of the design is still being tweaked (steering wheel)

I'm sure the aftermarket will give plenty of CF replacement options. Hearing some of the opinions expressed there will probably even be a market for burlwood :)

I am happy to see a hands free mic up behind the rearview. Hopefully there are some temp sensors hidden up there for the auto climate control too.

HurricaneRN 02-14-2013 10:04 PM

10-4 on the blind spot, hopefully exaggerated by the wide lens.

Gary '09 C6 02-14-2013 10:25 PM

that was neat to see/do...thx for sharing !

That view out the back looks really, really tiny.

"Dull finish" or dry CF actually is higher quality and more expensive than the shiny or "wet" stuff, although it doesn't look as slick.

Question to anyone. What are those two bumps for up high, in the corner of the Driver's side A pillar? :flag:

I'm certainly not willing to put money on this, but I THINK it might be the microphone for hands free telephone and voice command activation.

Usually that is in the rear view mirror

I dont see the 2 additional windows they added in the Interior 360. They disappeared....?

BlueOx 02-15-2013 11:41 AM

Sadly the camera angle is to blame. The headrests block them out.

Happihank 02-15-2013 11:47 AM

I guess Ill just have to wait until I can sit in one:thumbs:

Theres another small vent looking thing on the upper rear of each door panel

A back up camera isn't going to help you with fast lane changes on the highway. I don't think rear visibility has been this bad since the 1963 split window. I think I'll get the convertible and keep the top down, lol.

Love the dash though, especially the two-toned color treatment. Also, they finally put some padding on the center and side armrests.

The temp sensors are normally around the knee height area. A little below radio level. Wouldn't want one where it would be in the sun.

Well thats how it is in my Audi but I did not see anything on the lower console that would indicate that.

DRLC5 02-15-2013 02:43 PM

the drivers door panel is different than the passenger panel?

Ya know I went back again and looked and yep the rear window looks tiny with a considerable blind spot.

Have to sit in this car for sure'ya to know.
But I have concerns ...

Sorry for the late post but I finally had time to check it out and I'm also concerned about the rear vision. I'm really surprised with all the push for vehicle safety features they design something that really seems to go against those goals. The new rear window style as viewed from the outside has not exactly played to positive reviews by everyone and when it has the potenial for view issues as well it does not seem like a well thought out design. I have a deposit on a C7 and may actually change to a 'vert for this reason. I've been used to good rearward vision on my C4,C5, & C6 coupes and this sure seems like a step backwards. Maybe that's why the Stingray name was picked-so the '14 could be like the '63 and then next year they can change the rear window as they did in '64...

To OP; leave it to a nurse to take care of us, great link, thank you! Were you the lucky one who was acually inside the C7 who filmed this? If so, how comfortable/not are the Competition seats?

you could oufit your car with truck mirrors.... and put those warnings on the rear that say" if you cant see my mirrors i cant see you"

Unfortunately no, I have not seen it in person and if I would have been that lucky they would still be trying to pry my hands off the steering wheel while I made motor sounds with a glassy look in my eye.

You really need to see this beauty in person, and there are 2 days left to the show in Chicago. In an effort to give back to the Female nursing community for all they do, I have extra tix and a spare bedroom and your welcome to join me. My C5 is asleep in the garage and you can sit in it, grab the wheel and "make motor sounds" for as long as you'd like. I'll also hook up the widescreen in there so you can play Gran Tourismo and Need For Speed from the cockpit! This offer is only valid if you are a female RN, of course! ;) ...

Maybe and I thought the same until I noticed that it seems the camera angle is from the center of the car looking back. That means, the little side windows don't show at all. But then again, we don't sit in the middle either.

Great find on the 360s, thanks!

NSC5 02-16-2013 03:23 PM

One of the earlier GM documents noted the outside mirror design of the C7 took into account the reduced view through the hatch area.

For most drivers it will probably be most noticeable as a side blind spot when backing out of a parking space but the mirrors will compensate in normal road use. The rear pillar on the Cadillac CTS has this same effect when leaving a parking space. A backup camera doesn't help because the blind spot occurs at an angle on each side.

Exactly! This is clearly shot from the middle of the car and not the drivers perspective. What we are seeing is what you would see if you were looking out the rear view mirror. The little b pillar windows should take care of blind spots when looking over your shoulder along with the side mirrors. I also think the camera they used has fairly wide angle lens which makes the rear view look a bit narrower than it actually is.

trivette 02-16-2013 04:42 PM

I guess we'll have to wait for some of the mgazine road test articles to get opinions on the rear view issue for someone who has actually driven it.
