I don't see anywhere else where this has been posted. Apologies if I'm completely blind. Here's a screenshot of the e-mail.

If true yet another disappointment that is the C7

sam90lx 02-14-2013 04:55 PM

Please re read....... estimated.....

Racer 02-14-2013 04:55 PM

You never saw anywhere else, where they have said or mentioned an estimated 450/450. Not in any adds, promos, write ups etc etc?

Then yes, book your eye exam quickly.

petermj 02-14-2013 04:56 PM

"Estimated" is the key, could go higher and could go lower-kinda like predicting the weather, without any committment to the actual number. Did not see a disclaimer about type of gas being used, hopefullly this is not on E85, LOL.

2K3Z06 02-14-2013 05:02 PM

453/ 452

30 more HP than a mustang... and NO DCT. how underwhelming. They left themself a lot of room for improvement.

Davy_Baby9 02-14-2013 05:32 PM

Somebody skipped over the "estimated" before the power numbers. Haha

Exactly. The follow-on models will have the power that some folks want to see in the C7 Coupe. 450 works for me. Now, to do something about that hideous rear-end . . .

Admittedly I haven't been keeping up with it as much as I should. So Chevy already released this information elsewhere? I've seen forum members post 450/450 but hadn't seen anything from Chevy.

Either way, as others mentioned it does say "estimated." It just seems strange to me that Chevy would put numbers out there if they weren't somewhat accurate, especially in an e-mail to current owners whom they're trying to sell the new model.

"yet another"? It may be a disappointment, but its consistent with what they have been saying for nearly three months.

petermj 02-14-2013 05:50 PM

"PRECISION NEVER RESTS" and "ESTIMATED 450 hp", hmmm, does anyone at GM bother to look at this stiff before sending it out? :willy::D

Must a precise estimate apparently.

That was when GM "estimated" C7 would be lightweight.

Someone should explain to GM what oxymoron is:D

Well, the above article was dated Oct. 25th 2012. Pretty sure this was within a day or two of the actual press release.

Until the motor is officially SAE certified, everything you read should state "Estimated". There is no estimated certification date, other than a press statement that claimed 1st Quarter of 2013.

Love the pun of "estimated certification date"

So even at 450/450 (which it won't be) it's already more powerful than the LS3. The C7 is leaps and bounds better than the car it's replacing.
