Exhaust muffler question

Hello All,

I have a 2004 corvette a bought a few weeks ago. I just change differentials from a 3.15 to a new set of 3.42 from Arizona differential (Great Guys). Now im tuning it with Mikes help from DiabloSport (He is also a great guy, has a lot of patience). Now I like to make it sound better can I just swap out the muffler (Cut out old mufflers and install new mufflers) or should I just by the whole back assembly. Also can you recommend a particular exhaust muffler or assebly and what is a good place to order from? I am in Arizona

Thanks,
Jimmy

Exchange the whole catback to an after market cat back.

Another words each side from the exhaust flange prior to the pipes cross over the rear axle area to the rear exhaust tips.
I suggest listing to some different after marketr systems on the internet.
That is how I choose the one I wen't with.

There are many manufactures of aftermarkets.

Once you have decided which system sounds best to you, begin your search.
You may perhaps find a set (used) here on the forum & save some $$$$.

what I did on mine is that I liked the slp Loudmouth later to find out its basically a muffler delete and that's what I did on mine so it depends on what you want

Get some Corsa Pace cars and it'll sound great!

There is quite a variety of exhaust choices for the C5, and a lot of options for how loud you want the car.

Most options are around $1,000 for a axle back system, the louder systems are cheaper (because they don't really have a muffler). IMO the louder systems sound bad @$$, but they have a lot of drone on the highway that will drive you nuts after a month of owning them. There are some sound clips on youtube you can search to give you an idea of how the different systems sound.

IMO, be patient and keep an eye on craigslist and the for sale section of the forum. You'll be able to find a set of used pipes for about half the cost of new.
