2009 Corvette C6 Coupe check engine code P0454
 

I used my code checker to find out why my check engine light came on. I tried to reset the check engine light with my code checker but the check engine light stays on and the code comes back when I restart the car. Its code P0454 Fuel tank pressure sensor. Is it hard to change? Anyone have any advice? 2009 Coupe 22000 miles.

You cant just clear the code and not expect it to come back lol

I know that. I was asking is the fuel tank pressure sensor hard to change and has anyone else encountered this?

p0454 is in the group of evap pressure codes.

i would replace the gas cap to eliminate that possibility. like most things, you replace the cheap first and since a new cap wouldnt hurt, good starting point.


fyi.. replace a fuel tank pressure sensor (if you get to that point)

Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor Replacement
Removal Procedure
Remove the right rear wheelhouse panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Liner Panel Replacement - Rear in Body Rear End.
Remove the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister access cover.
Disconnect the fuel tank pressure sensor electrical connector.
Remove the fuel tank pressure sensor by carefully prying the sensor out of the fuel tank with a screwdriver.

Installation Procedure

Lubricate the fuel tank pressure sensor rubber grommet with clean engine oil in order to aid in installation.
Install the fuel tank pressure sensor into the top of the fuel tank.
Connect the fuel tank pressure sensor electrical connector.
Install the EVAP canister access cover.
Install the right rear wheelhouse panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Liner Panel Replacement - Rear in Body Rear End.

Yeah I kinda think this might be part of the cause because my gas cap doesnt seem to tighten as well. :( I will stop at the dealership and buy a cap today.

Well the car is at the shop now the guy quoted me $90 labor to install the $70 part. I also purchased a new gas cap.

New gas cap is cheap insurance & a good idea. :thumbs:

But I bet the fix you're getting involves R&R the evap canister Vent Solenoid... it's a logical next step... $90 + $70 sounds about right:

GM's lousy gas caps have struck me, only the DIC so stated a loose cap was at fault. :crazy:

JMHO: if your problem's resolved for $160 +tx, feel fortunate.
As C6 repairs go, it's a bargain. :thumbs:
