Viper Getting 2015 Re-Fresh (Yes, C7 Related)
After two years in its conceptual planning, then another two years in development, with the first one coming off the assembly line just three weeks ago, and already the SRT Viper is getting a 2015 model year re-fresh? I am thinking that having a five year old Corvette ZR-1 kick its butt on the race track (more than two seconds a lap faster in last month's Motor Trend track test) had a lot to do with this, probably compounded by the innovative engineering on the base/ approximate $53K, 2014 Stringray that the $100-140K Viper doesn't have.
Here's some direct quotes from "Viper Alley -- the Viper forum: "Re The 2015 Re-Fresh: The buyers of the 2013 and 2014 models get pissed when their cars fall into a bottomless depreciation pit." and, "Epic Fail!"; and, "After getting rapped by the ZR-1", and, lastly, "Is the 2015 scrambling to keep up with the new Corvette? |

I think this is a reason we aren't hearing much more YET about the other C7's to come and why they will all be using the same chassis. |

Is this a joke?...Wow
|
Lots of rumors that the 2015 Viper refresh is simply just going to be a convertible...
|
Source?

The refresh is more likely an application of lessons learned in ALMS racing than it is a response to production Corvettes.
Aero tweaks, suspension tweaks, strengthening whatever the weakest link was found to be. Normally such things aren't called a refresh, but at what point in the rumor trail was the word refresh attached and by whom? .Jinx |

I wonder how the early buyers of the new snake are going to react to this. First their ride gets owned (thrice) by the outgoing ZR on the track. And now an early re-fresh.
Yikes. |
