LS1 With TSP 233/239 112 lsa cam. What heads?
Car has 853's now. I want to have it tuned but I want to do it after it's done. As it sits now the car has cam, LT's, gutted cats, X pipe, CAI, polished TB. Not really happy with the 370 RWHP dyno numbers. Any advice on what heads I should be looking for? Budget is in mind as well.

The car is a 99 FRC LS1 car

What kind of dyno did you run on? Ya, those heads are robbing allot of power if you only made that much with a cam that big! Ported 243's are usually the budget route and are sufficient for some good numbers.

I need to be honest, I am unsure. This was done by the previous owner. I just got the car.

I have 243 heads lloyd elliot hand ported stage 2 heads with dual valve springs milled 2 though...62cc that should be great for ya, mine is SC and i would like to go 317 heads to reduce compression...heads have 2.04/1.6 valves on it. just refresh those cleaned up and ready to bolt on...i can $850 shipped. let me know.
370 is on low side for sure but i can tell you, i would go with better heads than Cam. |
Another option would be pick up a set of used 243 heads and send them to Advanced Induction to be CNC ported. Mine had great results, or look for a set of used TFS heads.

Sami, I wish I was ready to pull the trigger.
Correct me if I am wrong, 799's are the same as 243's? |
Is there anything to be gained by having my 853's worked a little bit?

Bang for buck is with the 243/799 and a little work. Can keep it under $1k and pick up some good numbers. |
Advanced Induction has great program that doesn't cost as much as a full CNC job. It's a known fact that the exhaust ports really hold back on power. What they do a full exhaust CNC port, 5 angle valve job on their Newen valve machine, do some hand blending on both bowls, mill the heads to 62cc chambers and set up your valve springs. This way you keep the low in torque and responce by not cutting the intake ports and you get the increased HP from the valve work and exhaust. Here is the flow numbers that were sent to me on my 243 heads.
