The '86, even though it is sold now, looks like a Malcolm Konner special edition. Did you check the RPO codes when you had it to check? They only offered that color combo that year on that edition. They made 50 units.

It might be good to notify the new owner just so they have an idea of what it could be.

The Malcolm Kroner was silver beige metallic on top and black on the bottom. The interior was bronze.

The interior was graphite. The pic of the interior shows the inside of the door and it certainly seems to have a beige hue.

I stand corrected on the interior color.

So you guys do not think that it is the Special Edition? I honestly did not know about this edition until you started commenting. I looked up more info on the Malcolm Konner Corvettes and I would love to call my customer with the information but how do I confirm that this is or is not the special edition? Can anyone check the RPO codes from the VIN#? Thanks guys!

DinoBob 03-02-2013 09:10 PM

Seriously? You sell Corvettes and did not know about this?

I do not know if you can check RPOs over the phone. The window sticker and/or build sheet can be obtained from the Corvette Museum. Tell your buyer to look for RPO 4001ZA on the RPO sticker in the rear storage door lid.

That reply sounded harsher than it was intended to. My apologies.

Why not run the vin number on this http://www.compnine.com/vid.php?vin=1g1ys3dw8a51011538

I remember this being free for quite awhile, it seems they are a paid service now, but if you deal in corvettes daily might be a good tool to have for the price.

OldCorvetteFan 03-09-2013 10:25 PM

The VIN on this car, #1G1YY0789G5121462 is outside the Malcolm Konner range, which was inclusive to the range of 8043 through 8343 (Source: Corvette Black Book).

also in on the rpo sheet, the color code would read "spec" instead of having an actual color code..

BTW here is a photo of mine before it met it's untimely demise
