Unless you're keeping tab of all the replies here....

There is a poll in C7 and the haters are in the minority by a W I D E margin. :flag:

Some of us forget how much of a departure the C3 was from the C2 and the C4 from the C3 and so on ..... I'm sure some of the same complaints were made back them.

Corvette's didn't always have pop-up headlights, round taillights, big hatch rear window, big block engine, or trunks, etc. - this is evolution.

A lot of owners don't like the replacement for THEIR generation, but all of us have to go through it. They are all good cars in their own right and for their time.

On a scale of 1 to 10 - I give it a 9. I would have preferred the name Stingray on the fenders other than the graphic, but I'll get used to it. Love to see one up close!

TonyCool 01-14-2013 05:11 PM

I give it an 8.

I have mixed feelings about this car. Not thrilled about the rear end and it's not only about the headlights. It looks like they ran out of material and decided to leave half of the rear end unfinished...

http://i498.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps0567d0a1.jpg

They just sort of painted the side of the fenders so people didn't realized when looking at it from the side.

The rear is ok when you are not looking directly at it:

http://img2.netcarshow.com/Chevrolet...llpaper_0d.jpg

but this would have been better:

http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/...ps56475b7f.jpg

Some clever painting might fix that. But honestly it would just be better to slam a C6 rear end on it and then the car would look like a million times better.

Still I give it an 8 becuase it's definitely better looking overall than a C6 base.

http://img2.netcarshow.com/Chevrolet...llpaper_05.jpg

The front is end looks really good. Only thing I don't like but would live with is the hood opening. I don't care how functional it is... It does not complement the car. And I would have to either color match the roof pilars.

http://i498.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps820151a3.jpg

This makes me think the convertible will look good.

Or color match the roof.

http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/18bf...g/original.jpg

I think what I'm saying is that they riced out the car too much for my taste... And I'm in the young market they are targeting.

I was going to give a 7 because then there is the fact that I'm sure GM could have done so much better with the design of the exterior... but I'm trying to look into the bright side.

The interior is plenty good enough.

Performance increase MEH...

Cylinder deactivation :ack:

i love it and will have one, just not the first model year, and considering i just got my 2012 in may, i should keep it for more then a year.
Styling is so subjective... I am happy GM went out on a limb a little with the styling. I think itwill sell well, and watch out for the Z05 and a new ZR-1!!!!!

Kratos-TM 01-14-2013 05:27 PM

I give it a an 8. Needs a new rear. But I know GM thought there wasn't much else they could do.

Dale427 01-14-2013 05:29 PM

Whether you love it or hate it, there seems to be near-universal agreement that the rear end is awful.

I give it a 6. I like how the Hood and Front fender peaks look from the drivers position - kind of like a 68-72 big block.

TWS Racing 01-14-2013 05:31 PM

Seems like a couple members are a little wound up about any criticism. Too much GM stock in their 401(k) ?

It's an OPINION poll, so take a deep breath and respect everyone's right to have that opinion.

I'm not a C7 hater, I gave it a 7 of 10, but I am getting amusement from the posts by "haters of the haters"!

It's almost like politically-correct liberals are in here. "You have the right of free speech... unless you disagree with me!" :salute:

I might actually own a C7 someday, but it didn't floor me to the point where I will dump my C6's to be one of the first in line. Technology and performance are going to be awesome for "base" coupe, but a couple aspects of the styling... I'm going to need a little time... plus until they come out with a higher performance model it will be a downgrade from my ZR1 and ZO6.

Just my $.02. Flamesuit not on yet, but within arms reach, at the ready.

For those that say it looks like a Camaro.. Camaro owners would only wish!

You need an eye doctor............... Yes you might be right, I think they will make huge changes......... When they do the Z06 or 7 and the Zr1...................

Glen220 01-20-2013 01:03 AM

I give it a 2.

It is a bitter disappointment.

It seems that rear-end isn't liked by many, even those who rate the car high don't like the rear-end.

That is one ugly car.

Glen

Mr C7 01-20-2013 01:09 AM

I give it a 9. 10 is reserved for the wide body 700 hp+ future ZR1.

texvette2 01-20-2013 01:57 AM

5 -- could have been worse, could have been better. It will sell because its something
different and people will know its a new design even if they don't like it. Put the
corvette name on a KIA and people will buy it for the name

ExRedRacer 01-20-2013 02:01 AM

I give it a nine.

One day one of those will be in my garage. In the meantime I'm enjoying the heck out of my C6 coupe. :auto:

Raitzi 01-20-2013 02:05 AM

I just cannot rate it until I know more. Looks are nearly perfect ten. The only problem with looks is that edges of the wind shield are not pained to body colour.

I would give it a 6.

And I think it's the other way around... it looks like they had a GREAT looking Corvette, then they were like... "lets add another few lines to the hood" and started over-engineering everything.

Paulchristian 01-20-2013 03:58 AM

I give the base model a "8.5" deducting for what I consider to be a so so front fender vent style and poor lower front bumper design...bottom of rear bumper might be a bit busy too....

I am confident the Z model will address these item and then some...it will be a "15" on a scale of 1 through 10. I can't wait!

mattkilla2015 01-20-2013 04:04 AM

Ill give it a 9.8 for exterior. There is a rendering on the forums today that made me think wow! On the side view of the rendering that makes me think it could have turned out just a tiny bit better IMO. The more videos I watch the more I'm in love with it. I know its gonna look even better in person and wheni do finally see It. It's gonna put a big grin on my face and ill start asking myself what I need to do to afford one someday.

The interior ..7/10 dash is where it loses the most points for me. its a vast improvement of materials from the c6. It's just not my taste. and seeing what some of the new upcoming cars layouts are, I can't help but think it not there yet for me. I prefer the classic gauge cluster aesthetically and go for more contemporary looks inside.

***Look at the difference in rear ends below--Your rear fascia fix would have solved the problem and calmed the uproar. I can't recover from the Camaro rear and while I could live with the front half of the car, it still resembles a "retro-rice" component car of 10 or so years ago. Why didn't they just evolve the C6 and continue the classic styling into something timeless?

In business, when I have seen people reach to the past for ideas is when the creative process is tired and people need to be shuffled around to keep things fresh. It's a safe form of treading water since thinking suggests that ideas that already worked will work again.

Is it too late to change the rear of the car or is this a done deal?
