EVERY SINGLE SPORTS CAR HAS A STIGMA/STEREO TYPE......

Why? Because 99% of the population sits back and hates on people that have more than them because they were willing to work hard. This has been discussed.

Bought my first vette at 28 and recently purchased my 3rd vette at 38.

Thanks, HOHHOH, again it was great to meet you when we ran the Mondo track a few months back. I may be down for the Main event.

heh - funny enough I started going bald (slowly) when I was around 24 in college. About to be 31, and about a year ago just decided to start buzz cutting my hair.

(Bald trimmer for the win)

I'm no super pumped steroid guy by any means, but 6'1 tall, and a little bit of muscle, and a shiny ass head? I always love the remarks people make "oh he's compensating for something" haha more than happy to prove em' wrong.

heh 1 day after the reveal of the C7 I'm flying down to Houston to pickup my Z06 -- (been in storage foreeever) already got my 7LITER plates back too :)

Most rice burners have no history worth anything so most mature people are not as attracted to them as a Corvette. Look at Mustangs they have similar following. Young folks are attracted to whatever looks hot at the moment but that generally fades away to the next hot whatever. You can see that in all areas of their life- cars, friends, places to go, housing, voting, spending money in general. I know cause I was 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 ....
How many cars are there you wanted one when you were 10 and again at 20, and again at 30 and on? most will be American and most will be 50 plus years old.
The Corvette is likely the most Wanted car in history? Now we'll see if C7 can continue that?????

:iagree:Bingo

Well, you re a pilot, so at least you have your priorities straight. Did you buy the plane first or your Corvette:thumbs:

Well you asked for it. I've lusted after the Corvette ever since I was a 12-year-old, smushing my nose up against the showroom window of Gibbs Chevrolet back in 1952-3 in Medina, OH.

I bought my first, a '65 327/365hp maroon roadster in 1967, with 2 tops and a Muncie. It got about 10mpg. I sold it after my son came along in '69 to buy a new '69 SS 396 Chevelle.

I swore I would have another one day and I flew to KC in Sept '07 to pick up a new VY '08 3LT coupe, with Z51, 6 speed, dual mode exhaust and drove 840 miles back to Cleveland in 13 hours. I would have kept this beauty a long time except for some LeSaber that almost climbed into my trunk while my wife and I sat at a red stop light. I was whip lashed but my wife really hurt her neck. After healing a bit and after a great repair I decided to trade it in because I believed in accident stigma.

I found a brand new '09 3LZ VR Z in June 2010 that was discounted over $21k and jumped on it. Yes, it came in bright red and chrome wheels.

I track it 4-5 times a year and attended the Ron Fellows School of Performance Corvette School last July. I drove a Z and chased and caught another attendee in a ZR1 who never caught up with me again.

I attend HPDE at Nelson Ledges several times a summer and once in a while joust with an 85-year-old '06 Z owner who drives balls out. I must be doing something right because I'm always on his tail and he says, "You're getting better".

My Z is bright red with chromes but about 99% of the other drivers only see the tail lights. I'm not interested in passing any torch to anyone. If you want it you'll have to pry it out of my cold dead hands. But it'll be fair fight since I'm 73.

OH THREE Z 01-11-2013 12:38 PM

Bought my 07 when I was 33 bought my 12 when I was 38

Lol. My priorities have changed since I bought the Z, because I owned the Z before the airplane. Now the poor Z never got the heads/cam it wanted... yet :D I need more money... My license plate says IMBROKE and people laugh, they don't realize that it's the truth! But I made those choices, and although I've given up a lot of younger adult things in life to have a Z06 and an airplane I think it will pay off in for me the future. I won't be 40 or 50 years old and saying "Boy, I wish I would have done that when I was in my 20's".

Absolutely the best philosophy to have. Try and limit the regrets because you may never have that opportunity again. Bravo!

Too-Fast 01-11-2013 01:21 PM

57 when I bought the Z06. 26 when I bought my first Corvette. The Z is my 4th Corvette.

cashs_mom 01-11-2013 01:32 PM

I was 53 when I bought my first vette, 59 when I bought the Z. I don't much care what anyone else thinks or says. I love my car.

cmdrwill 01-11-2013 01:43 PM

I'm buying a C7

I have been saving for years and life gets in the way sometimes of me owning my dream car. I was 28 when I was going to but a Vette, but like I said, life got in the way. Now I'm 47 and I will have my back firmly pressed in to the rich new leather in any gear that comes with the C7. What ever the tail light shape happens to be. What's not to like about Chevrolet and 450+ HP. :flag:

briancb1 01-11-2013 02:27 PM

Bought it in July of 2012 and I'm 28.

It's not an old mans car. Anyone that says that just has that stigma and is most likely a foreign car person.

And where pray tell did you find the carbon brakes? An old guy like me needs to get out of trouble faster than I got into it.

Bought my first corvette in november 2011. 2009 Z06, and i was 54 at the time. Most fun car i have ever owned bar none. Push that button and feel like i did when i had my 1969 396 chevelle all over again:D

I live by this. 23 year old checking in.

If people aren't hating on me, then I'm not doing my job

I'm 70 and here is a pic of me coming off track at Talladega after a 162 MPH run. Dadgum female riding shotgun held me back.
