scraping lower plastic air dam
I want to thank whoever gave me the tip to back out of the driveway at an angle. Tried it yesterday and for the first time ever, it didn't scrape. A simple solution, thanks again.

Glad it worked for you. I try different angles and I still scrap, but I am not worried about it. The air dam is spring loaded and many people scrap theirs with out any harm.

No matter what I try I scrape. As long as it's not the plastic chin spoiler, I can live with it.

These plastic air dams can be had for something like $75.00. I might just replace mine every year or so...

Unless your really hit it hard....... a light abrasive sand paper can smooth down the bottom edge. Can't make it any worse. Nose sure makes one aware of any and all curbs and tire stops!!!

Be careful, theres a lower radiator support under there that is very easy to break, and you might not know till the radiator drops out from under, I had to replace mine
|
Too bad the Z06 splitter is $150+. It's not fun to have to replace that thing every couple of years.
|
No need to replace, it is engineered to flex, although the sound of it scraping is annoying at best.
|
My drive way isn't steep at all, but I still scrape right at the entrance no matter what angle I take.
I check it out every few weeks and it's still all there and flexes without any issues. I think as long as you move slowly, it should flex without any damage. I've got a spare sitting in my house too, just in case, that the last owner gave me with the car. |

It's a wear item likes brake pads, only quicker to replace. |
Works for me and glad to hear it also solved your problem.
|
I don't mind the flexing but what annoys me is that the side pieces pop out of place and I have to then , with the push pins, pop it back in. On my driveway it only happens on the passenger side.
|
I'll have to do that. Great idea. Thanks for sharing.

Having just replaced mine, I can tell you it is not as easy as some say it is. There is thread over in tech that describes how to. Took me about 90 minutes and a lot of sore muscles, including having to jack up the front end. Might be a whole lot easier on a lift, though. Second time would be easier but still a PITA. Brake pads are much easier.
