Finally got a chrome bumper car.

I sold my '80 4 or 5 years ago, mostly because I wanted a chrome bumper car. Through some complicated horse trading, I have finally got one.

72 had the amber parking lights in the grill.

I started out with this:

which got traded with some cash for another Mustang. Then I traded that Mustang for the Corvette and got some cash back.

AFAICT, it's mostly original, including the paint. It's got some flaws, but it's in great driver condition.

aks801 01-06-2013 11:38 PM

Man that is NICE. Well-done!

Not just "a chrome bumper car".... a VERY nice looking one!
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

Great looking 'Vette! The hardtops always looked great on the 'verts too. They must be a PITA to store, remove, etc, but man, do they look good sitting on the car!

oldsarge 01-07-2013 10:58 AM

Congrats on the new ride, looks great !!!

Yes, that's my 8-year old. We've been taking her to car shows and swap meets since she was in diapers. She thinks it's pretty boring now. She still likes riding around in the cars though.

Congrats on your new LT-1  Looks great

Thanks guys.
The Mach was a nice car. I put a lot of work into it over the years, but it still needs a few minor things. I will miss it though.

When all was said and done, I figure I have about $25k into the Corvette. I know values are down currently, so I'm not sure if I did well or not. It was a solid (not perfect) LT1 convertible that fell into my lap though. Not having to travel, ship a car, etc. is worth something.

gq82 01-07-2013 03:50 PM

A rare color (which I like) 70 LT1 convertible....very well done...congrats

Dustup7T2 01-07-2013 09:29 PM

Yeah Man, you really got a nice ride, in spite of letting the Mach 1 go to run in a different pasture.

LT-1 was a rockin' option. I couldn't wait for a real one so I made a wanna-be clone...kinda. Or was it a ZR-1 I was thinkin'...? Nevermind.

Congrats!

Yeah, not just a chrome bumper car, but the top of the heap small block. Nice job, and I LOVE the car!!
