2014's on the road
seen near Crossville Tennessee early yesterday morning.
Well wrapped in black car covers.. http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/a...psa4107941.jpg |
You should have "bumped" one so they would have to pull over and examine the damage ;)
|
It was actually a Corvette buddy that took the pictures. |
I think someone should comment about the shape of the tail lights!! :willy:
|
I live in Crossville... guess they were just passing through. Wish I could've seen them.
|
Nice rear view of the 2014 Camaro!

Thanks for the photo, definitely gives us a glimpse we haven't seen yet. |
Were these taken from a low flying aircraft? The point of view is pretty high up!

OMG they are going to be box like! These will look so much better than the round mule photo's.
|
It appears they had four different designers at work on the taillights. To keep from getting anyone's feelings hurt, GM gave each designer their own taillight to design, thus we have four different shapes, as the photo clearly shows.

And, it seems as though you got your wish. Anyone want to make a bet on how long it takes for this to get locked? The mods have CLEARLY grown tired of tail light talk (as have I). Jimmy |
OMG, I want that optional roof mounted CB antenna!!!
 I think we should all wrap our C5's/C6's in vinyl and foam and drive them around just to mess with people... |
The width fills up that lane pretty good.

Since they went back and used the LT1 engine designation is it possible they are also going back and using a C4 style tail light shape? Not round, not half like the Camaro, but a little of both....
|
I am thinking 75

Just a guess but it might be shorter (48") by 1". The width is harder to guess as the padding of the camo messes with the apparent width.
What do think the width of the C7 will be? |

I agree with you on the height. I believe they will be back to the C5's height of 47.7", from the base C6's 49.1" and the wide body's 48.7".

I've never really thought about width as the camo/padding just makes it too hard to tell. The only reason I thought about the height was because it looked short next to other cars in spy shots. That is the one place where camo has no effect.

I think it's easier to look at the width over the "B" pillers and then judge the distance the rear fenders stick out. I doubt if there will be any change in the width over the "B" pillers(C6 vs C7) as that would change the size of the passenger compartment, which I doubt will become smaller on the C7.
|
Well, we now have confirmation on at least 2 colors. ZebraCamo and Black.

It's hard to tell from the pic but I don't necessarily think the tail lights are square...could be a camo illusion

Some of you guys have got some SKILLZ man! I don't know how you guys can tell what shape those lights are. Each one is peaking through the camo into a different shape.

I'm pretty sure that the base body is going to be wider. Maybe not having wider tires but definitely have the wheels pushed out a bit further.

With all the hype about 4-door coupes these days I hope they don't add 2 extra doors to the C7. BMW has already committed blasphemy by adding 2 doors to the iconic 6 series. Aston Martin's done it with the Rapide..

I took the pic and measured about 5 and 2/3 license plate widths. If they are 12" wide, I'm guessing 68" or 69". I'm also guessing the pipe ends at 4"(OD), based on the same guessimation. Lots of sideways movement blur so I could be way off. http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/a...psa4107941.jpg |

I'm betting the tail lights are round. The inside passenger light is round on the bottom. It's very sharp unlike the others that look blurry around the cut out.

Clearly these have the production tail lights that we saw in the red CAD drawing. The camp is shifted to one side altering the apparent shape.

The only way to do the ratio is to measure the picture width of the car at the rear, at the same distance from the camera as the license plate you are using for your base measurement. But we are flummoxed by the camo and the indistinct outlines at the rear of the car in this pic. I wouldn't trust any calculations in this particular case. We're back to guesswork. But it's a nice try! |

You can't measure from mirror to mirror in this picture and make the calculation work. You are dealing with such tiny width measurements in the picture for the plate (around 49 pixels) that the perspective shrink in moving farther forward to the mirrors gives you a significant decrease in your width. That is why the mirror width seems so unrealistically small.

This may have been pointed out before, but you need to look closely ar the 68-73 rear styling. Start with the cars' overall width at the rear wheel arches. Then note how the fenders taper way inward after that, ending in a taillamp panel that is much narrower (ignore the chrome bumpers). The much-criticized big butts on C5 and C6 are nearly as wide as the width at the wheels (base car). For the C7 it appears that the designers are returning to that 68-73 tapered theme to achieve a small-appearing rear end even though the C7's overall width will be similar to the base C6.

In addition to the extra cockpit space, the cargo space is something else of the sportscar phenomenon. It makes the car more useable for daily driving and extended highway trips. The highlight of my C6 ownership, was driving my car from Washington, DC down to Key West, FL and back in a weeks time between Christmas & NYE. Packed in the car along with my girlfriend & I, were two carryon suitcases, three soft duffel bags and one garment bag. We stayed in Orlando, Miami and Key West. Take away the relatively large interior and that trip either would have been alot less comfortable or even impossible. Driving any car 2000+ miles in a week's time is already scary enough, doing it in a sports car is something most people wouldnt dare to do. Not only did we enjoy the trip, but we are already disappointed that we were not able to do it again this Christmas/NYE. |

Hopefully its not too small. One of the reasons I chose the Corvette over other competitors, was the extra interior space. As a guy who's 6-3, 240lbs way too many sportscars are impossible for me to fit in comfortably.

Yep. 15 Corvettes on a 10 day trip covering 3427 miles. And still able do 0-60 in 3.6 seconds, the 1/4mile in under 11 seconds, top speed of 198 MPH, pulling 1+g on a twisty mountain road, and getting 28+ MPG crusing down the Interstate. And not having to have back surgery when you get home.
