Some may say that you can't daily drive a Ferrari, but I know someone who does just that. He daily drives his Enzo. It doesn't hurt that he has a 599 GTO and 458 Spider for the weekend...

Looks like the car that has been made for you is a first generation Miata...

I had one and I modded the hell out of it and it was a blast! I did forget to mention that almost everyone of those cars I owned were moded and some like to 997S that shares garage space with the Z06 at a cost higher than the car when I bought it new. I have spent a small fortune to learn a lesson that I wish I had not needed to learn.

Interesting premise.

As for thread topic, I would much rather have a Lamborghini Diablo. :D For cost of ownership relative to performance, however, I am quite happy with my C6Z.

Thanks, the sequel come out 2/01/13 and the film version sometime in the future. For someone like me this is a life long dream come true and something I once thought impossible (for a once homeless guy with only a 8th grade education) to do.

Nice to be him. :D

You guys are very funny. My 05 F430 has over 18K on it and I drive it all the time. The newer models with chain driven cam will run for a very long time and need a $1K service each year and $3K every 3.

There are plenty of Vetts that sit in the garage driven only on the right sunny days.

I will not argue that the Ferrari can get very expensive to fix if something big goes wrong, but it is well worth the price of admission.

I am very happy with my 2012 Z07 though, which is my first Vett and have put 6K on it since getting it in April. It's a mighty fine car, but it aint no Ferrari :D........Steve

Can any of the routine maintenance tasks like changing fluids be done by the owner or do you need special equipment ? The reason I ask is that I was considering purchasing an out of warranty F430 at one time and wondered if this would end up being a nightmare.

You can change the oil yourself, but lots of other stuff, including changing the brake fluid requires an SD3 tester. That said, its still a wonderful car! Working on the rest of the car is actually pretty easy as far as interior and body fittings etc..but so much of the systems of the car are electronically integrated, it needs a specialist to service.

I was thinking it was the 355's that had that issue. I think the 97 and 98's are better but still have issues.

I've got a good friend with about 18k on his F430 and he drives it pretty much every nice day. Maintenance isn't as terrible as I expected it to be.

As for performance my Z06 runs a little better but not by much.

I daily drive a Maser Coupe (because of the back seat and dropping off my 3 yr old to daycare), it's no F car, but definitely has the Italian thing going on (I put Stebro race exhaust on). The only thing I HATE is the paddle shifters. My next F-car will only be manny!

Now...it is all about frame of mind. I also own a Maser QP with paddle shift and LOVE it! It is because how many FAMILY haulers can you "blip, blip, blip" with 2 car seats in the back!!!!!!

Z06 rules on the track though, hand down!!!!!
