1998 Corvette C5 (modified)
This is my son's car - great car. This is my son's car. It is labeled a C5R, but I can't seem to find anything about the model. It seems pretty unique. Would love to find out more about it. The C5R is listed as a special race car, but this seems to be a custom show car.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm,,,, :toetap:
Well,,, SOMEONE added some AFTERMARKET body stuff and modded the engine. The link below explains what a REAL C5 R is, does and looks like: http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/car/2...ette-C5-R.html The 98 C5 came in two different versions: COUPE and Convertable The 99 came in three versions: Coupe, Vert and Fixed Roof Coupe (FRC ) We commonly refer to it as Factory Race Car. :D Check out this link. It gives a great overview of all vettes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_Corvette Bill |
Look at Pics
Take a close look at the pics (you can select pic to enlarge). Even the rear light has C5R on it. The interior is black with red trim. It looks like this was done in the factory. The most unique factory looking C5 I have ever seen. Front, rear, and side special effects. Interior special effects. Even under the hood, all chrome and a 1998 logo under the hood.

If it's not from the factory, then I'd like to meet the person that did it. Not even a scratch on a bolt. Nothing to indicate that this wasn't done by Chevrolet for someone.

None of that is from the factory.

Nothin like an automatic transmission C5R...haha.
Dude...it's a c5 coupe with a bunch of aftermarket stuff on it. There's nothing C5R about it. If you want a C5R they occasionally roll through auction deep in the 6 figures and have 8 liter monsters in them.... In addition, all this dude is doing is trolling to promote this garbage car guru website, so mods...ban away... |

You know.... troll threads are usually kind of fun. If the OP bails, there's not much left to say.

It has to be true. I read it on the interweb.

Hey, I invented the internet, my name is Al Gore.

Stock exhaust manifolds... I'll bet she's fast as hell!

Welcome to the forum.. I'm very sorry you and your Son were sold a bill of goods. I hope you didn't pay too much for this stock C5 with some bolt on accessories. None of the extra bolt ons are from any RPO from GM. I do have some background in the C5's and its pre launch design ( 1995 )right through to 2000.
|
thanks, i needed a good laugh
|
Certainly not factory at all.
|
It's one thing if somone is posing and coming off as a "troll. It's another thing if the gentleman is being honest and just don't know the difference.
Either way, I am IBFTL. |
Heck, change the hood, remove the wing, and you have a nice C5! :D
