What happens to the Wixom plant in this case??
In the meantime we may be suffering from Corvette seperation anxiety...:willy:  |

We Wixomites will still be building engines. However it does not look like we will be building engines for the C7 Corvettes - at least not for the start of production. We're hoping that as C7 ramps up we will be included for a high performance model or two. :bigears

if they move their engine assembly to Mexico for the C7 I will definitely be keeping my C6Z. This is the primary reason I do not own a Challenger as my other ride.

I'm pretty sure the C7 base engines will be produced in Tonawanda NY. Haven't heard anything about Corvette engine production in Mexico. :flag:

Hows it go'in Don !!
It has been a busy year at Wixom! Pretty good mix of our Corvette engines and have had quite a few customer builds - and I think we have four more on the schedule - maybe more. Add to this the COPO Camaro engines and it's been quite a variety. So we've worked a fair amount of overtime to keep up with everything. But we know things will be changing when we lose our Corvette business (hopefully temporarily). But we do have engines to build and I think it was announced at SEMA that there will be more COPO's offered next year. So we are guardedly optimistic (is that a word?). Speaking of COPO's, yours truly worked with with GM exec Jim Campbell, doing an engine build for a COPO convertible to be auctioned for charity at Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale. We had a good time - much of it caught on film. This special COPO should bring big bucks for a good cause. :yesnod: I've enjoyed doing the customer builds and have met some great people - and avid Corvette fans!! Some are high rollers, some are dirt-under-their-fingernails working guys, but all have been great to work with! And many have had spouses and friends doing some of the work too. Cheers to all of you! |

I'm VERY glad that the engine in my GS was made at Wixom. I hope you guys get more Vette engines to build in the C7 program.

All 2013 engines are listed as made in mexico
My 2012 GS Window sticker lists my and transmission Made in USA
ALL 2013 WINDOW STICKERS ON MacMulkin website SHOW THAT ALL Drysump and Wet sump ( Manual and A6) as MADE IN MEXICO. Glad I bought 2012 (and not 2013) as all 2013 engines are shown as made in mexico. This is a non-starter for me regarding my next Corvette. IE: if C7 is made in Mexico then my 2012 GS is my last Corvette. |

In other words the block and heads are at least cast in Mexico, which is sad, but at least the engines themselves are not assembled there.

Racist comment. We are all humans and we live throughout the planet. I'm certain that the workers living in Mexico are proud of the work they do on the Corvette.

Engine: Country of Origin
Why do all the 2013 Window stickers state:
For this vehicle: Final assembly point: Blowing Green KY USA Country of Origin: Engine: Mexico 2012 Engine: United States What changed between 2012 and 2013 ??? Mexico is stated on all window stickers as the source for all Base Dry sump and wet sump LS3 (I could not find one sourced United States) Sourced in United States for LS7 |
On window sticker on my 2005 says transmission and motor made in USA. I recall seeing Cadillac CTS with made in mexico and made in USA but can't remember if it was transmission made in Mexico or engine.
With the new Ford Mustang GT 5.0 their 6 spd. manual transmissions that they are having problems with is made in China.:willy: |
