spend some time looking around in the for sale section here, and several sites like autotrader and others to get a handle on asking prices. realize that many dealers who dont see a lot of vettes think they are gold and price them as such. there are some vewry fairly priced cars that come up here, and i would bet from an owner standpoint, a better owner than average who takes good care of the car.

I've had a 2005 coupe, sold it & bought 08 in 2008 (New)!

I prefer the 08 over the 05, for reason stated earlier!!

You didn't say how you planned on paying!!

If financing you get better rate & term on newer car!!

I have deposi on C7 & will be selling my fully C6 2008 3lt nav, wheels, dual roofs, dula exhaust, one owner with 32k miles!! I just put 4 new michelins pilot A/s yesterday

I'm hoping to get $32-35!!

I'd shop around!!

Where are you located?

CTSV 11-09-2012 03:25 PM

NC. But I've flown all over the country for vehicles before.

Financing is lined up, so just looking for the right set of wheels!

I'd say go with the '08... And I say this because I have a friend with a 05 and I have a 09 and even he will say the ls3 and and 6060 tranny is a much better combo then the ls2 and not so smooth shifting t56 tranny!! Plus 08 has these small little differences then the 05... And if u do a cam in your 08 you'll have more power then the 05 but idk what your planning as far as mods! Lol At the end of the day it's your choice..! Best of luck!!!

harley2 11-09-2012 05:41 PM

Looks to be real nice car!!

Right color!

Reasonable mileage!

With the 3lt package, you'll have the HUD,heated seats,etc!

It also has the F55 ride control, that cost around 1995.00, lets
you choose tour or sport (softer/firmer) ride

Have it in mine, love it!

One guy noted "offer 26k, if not walk"
so many things go into value of car!
Condition
how many owners
equipment
tires
color
etc!!

buy the one that will make you happy!!

Not only age, but tires too.....New shoes can be $1,500 Plus. Make sure you turn the wheels to the locks so you can inspect the wear on the inside. My tires looked good till I saw they were very worn on the insides.

Also do you know if the miles are highway? Can you speak to the previous owners or find out who they are?

I think all miles are highway ulness people go off-roading or drive on water with this things. Or wait, lambo doors make it fly. lol

does the 6.2 in the corvettes have VVT like the 6.2s in the escalades? id assume so, which makes cams a little bit more complicated/expensive. but yeah VVT FTW until it is cam time

cant stand that the 3lt still doesnt have navigation standard for that group.

what do you guys think about this deal, seems fair, and nice wheels already! http://www.hendrickchevroletcadillac...-NC/1866578083

harley2 11-09-2012 06:13 PM

Looks good

No 3lt!
It has the Z51 suspension (rides firmer)! I don't like the Z51,tho
many do!!

I like the F55 & many are now leaning towards it (F55) because of Caddy
& Ferrari using it!!

Not only did I use KBB, NADA, and Edmund's, Cargurus.com is another tool for pricing cars to see what the asking price is compared to other cars in your area that have been sold. You can spot good deals as well as overpriced listings.

CTSV 11-13-2012 01:13 PM

Update gentlemen.

Been eyeing this one pretty hard, and working with the dealership over the phone before making the drive.

What do you guys think?

http://www.hendrickchevroletcadillac...-NC/1866578083

Has nice replica wheels which is one less thing to invest in myself, and while it is a three or four owner vehicle, if you click the Carfax report, especially towards the end with the last owner, the car was very regularly serviced. It is GM CPO as well, even though I am not a big fan of GM's certified program (had it in the past).

Thoughts guys?

Does not seem to be a bad price for a CPO...... and there seems to always be room for negotiation  Unless it is Carmax....

No nav, no 3LT = $26k tops IMO.

dvilin 11-13-2012 03:27 PM

With that high mileage and prices I would pass on both of them. Neither one is a great deal.

Fair enough, thanks for the input. A lot of you guys are saying 26K or so for a 2008 that isnt well loaded, which is fine, I trust your instincts and experience. But when I go out and look for 2008s with the 6.2 with decent mileage on them, nothing is coming close, except for high mileage, or weird combos like automatic yellow convertible. Where are you guys finding these good deals?

Patience. Usually takes me months to find my next toy. The deals are out there. Especially in the winter time on these cars.
