Anybody know what kind of shape captree in or OBI parking lot?:hide:

I miss Long Island. OBI used to be a hopping nightclub back in the late 80s.

I had heard the both captree and obi were pretty much washed away. I cant confirm it....

Well the builting itself is long gone but the parking lot was still there and was used on sunday morning in the summer time for 300 cars to hang out. Thats all Long Island had, now that may be gone too.

Last reports I heard still have the parkways leading to that barrier island closed south of Merrick Road in Nassau / Montauk Highway in Suffolk.
Many still have no power (just got mine back), and gas is alomost impossible to come by.

My sister lives down by Venetian Shores in Lindenhurst. She says that it's hard to get around on Montauk Hwy near her town! It's a total wreck!!

OBI was a hopping place a very long time before the late 80's.:willy:

From what I've heard, Captree's eastern most parking lot sustained some damage. I think OBI is okay. East bound Ocean Parkway is washed out in a few places. The troopers are only letting residents over the bridges for now.

For those interested, was down at Captree yesterday, Ocean Parkway is opened to Cedar Beach where you have to turn around. Parking lot at OBI is okay, Captree lots are okay but the Coffee place isn't open. Water is closer to the eastend parking lot than it used to be. No substantial damage to the parking lots most cleared with residual sand. Soft hot tires will probably pick up alot of sand.

Anyone go there on Sunday? I've heard of a new Sunday morning spot: the parking lot near the old Long Island Ducks hockey arena on Vet's Hwy, just west of Sagtigos Pwy in Commack.

Have been going to 454 Grill in Commack for some time now, good turn out plenty of parking and not as crazy as Captree/OBI. Owner of grill puts out Coffee and bagels for $3 dollars. Different cars and crowd, so far few street burnouts to draw attention. Usually 8:00 AM until 10:30 or so.
