I figured they'd have one... I was just disappointed to not see it on the LT1 itself. I think it will likely be saved for the LT4.

One thing is for sure, I'm very happy to see them using a 6.2 instead of the rumored 5.5.

Yeah... I hope you're right.

As for the displacement, it wouldn't bother me that much if it were a 5.5L. But saying 6.2L DOES put a big grin on my face. :D

Electric power steering, as was rumored from the mid 2000's. GM said they wanted to go electric power steering long ago, and that it'd have to wait for the next generation of Corvette.

2012 ZL1 has electric power steering and now every 2013 Camaro has it.

Very nice and impressive. I wish I could remember who but a few weeks ago a forum member was spot on.

Awesome! Thanks. I'm pretty sure that's the choice for me. Dry sump has a few little efficiency gains. More power, better mileage. Although 12qts gets expensive. LOL I'm already paying about $80 per 7qt oil change with Amsoil. :D

Good to know.

I hope they have one at SEMA next week. It would be nice to see one up close. This should be a tuners dream with a supercharger!

Agreed, if the final car specs are higher than 450 I will be pleased...and yes 6.2L makes me happy vs 5.5L

BlueOx 10-24-2012 09:57 AM

So much for the doom and gloomer promise of a turbo V6.

+1...

On the chart at the top of the page it says "450 lbs. of torque matches LS7 Z06 "

The LS7 is 475 lbs. of torque.

C8forT 10-24-2012 10:00 AM

I'm glad they didn't reduce the displacement. :)

They mean at the same RPM. LS7 may have produced more at a higher RPM.

Looking at the pictures and wording it looks like the dry sump is optional. The first motor shot is a wet sump.

It will be interesting. I know anyone modding the auto camaros is deleting the AFM and DOD. Swapping the junk AFM lifters out and going to ls3 style. This makes cam swaps and modding them a lot more expensive.

I read into this that if the dry sump is an option , they may have a track pack style car with the sport seats, dry sump, wheels , tires , suspension, exhaust..

50 lb/ft more torque at the low end. How can you not like that? That will be fabulous in normal street driving.

Can you guys not see what is going on? This is the mild cam version. This is designed for low end torque. Just like when they had several versions of the 327 or 396 in the same year. Or the 400hp Automatic Camaro. 26MPG is likely the combined milage. It is 19 on the 2013. If that is the case that is a HUGE improvement.

They could easily make an upgraded model that is closer to 500 HP with a wilder cam and and no AFM, no DoD, premium only 12.5 to 1 compression. Mileage would of course suffer.

The truck version will likely be around 425 with even more low end torque.

This is actually exciting news to me.

Good thought. I'll have to look for that.

Everybody chill. In 2-3 years there will be an engine refresh and C7 v2 will have ~480hp. This happened with C5, C6 and there's no reason to believe it won't happen with C7.

Not that I personally care. I'm more concerned about what new technologies they implemented to manage traction to put all that power down.

The only reason the C6Rs are running 5.5 L motors is because that is the maximum displacement allowed by ALMS rules.

:iagree: and add in the better gearing of the 7 speed manual, the significantly lighter weight = rocket ship
