1970 Vert Blue Vin Tag

Can anyone tell me the exact location for the blue vin tag for a 1970 big block convertible?

rear inner panel of the driver's side door above the latch mechanism. When you open the door it should be just visible. I'm sure some will have the exact measurements and some pics if that's what you are wanting.

I'm not aware of any VIN number located above the door latch mechanism on a 1970.

It's the vehicle certification label. 68s and 69s did not have them. They were blue for a while, then changed to white and got larger.

AIM shows the placement on the door and a blurb about how they were to be typed and what information was to be on them. I have a pic, but have not yet been able to find it.

:iagree:

Only identification that I've seen on them was the build date code, interior and paint codes along with the GM certification language.

Hi 4h,
The AIM show the Vehicle Certification label in UPC 0, Sheet B-1. View B.
There's no dimensions shown, but the lable is placed even with the upper screw of the 3 screws that mount the latch mechanism to the door frame.
In reality I think there was some variation.
Regards,
Alan

Thank you one and all.

On later cars, they went to this format and added a second label. Canada cars got a third label added.

4howard: do you have your old original to use as a guide for typing in the information? You want to get as close as possible to the old type face.
