headers
Thinking of installing headers on my C6 LS3, was hearing that you may get some drone on the inside. Is this true, and how much?

There is an acceptable amount of drone IMO. Besides if you have the NPP exhaust grab the M2W set up and the question will be moot. No complaints on my end............. |

Your profile does't give any info on your Vette. The drone issue apparently is only an issue with A6's, not M6's. Also, everyones tolerance for drone is different so what I might think is objectionable, you might think is acceptable. Right now, I'm living with it but I would prefer there was zero drone especially on long cruises. |
Sorry about that, my car is an m6

And I agree, I want as close to stock as possible!

Had mine installed Saturday. Stock nonNPP mufflers. No drone, love the sound... Details in the link.

So can anyone recommend a good shop south of the Chicago
Area to get an install and a good tune? |

You WILL get drone, but when the NPP valves are closed it isn't bad. If you have an aftermarket exhaust it will be bad. |
With my npp closed, you can barely hear my exhaust. With the flaps open though, its loud as hell and drones pretty badly at highway speeds with a little more than 'cruising' throttle.

Whoever said you "may" get drone was lying to you.

So, I take it that with long-tube 1 3/4" headers with cats, there will be no drone for A6 cars with the NPP mufflers (as long as the NPP valves are fully closed during normal driving) ?
I am not using the M2W on my GS |
No drone at cruise with my A6 GS
I have 1 3/4" headers, 3" X-pipe without cats, but I run the "430 hp" non-NPP stock mufflers. The tone at idle is just "slightly" more than stock and at cruise it's completely quiet in the cabin just as it was stock. Under full guns it does make more noise but really not that loud either.
Looks like the secret is using those cheap stock "430 hp" mufflers that everyone wants to get rid of. No dyno on my car but it runs OK for the few low cost mods it has. |

I have kooks headers, x-pipe and borla stingers and the drone is there, but doesn't bother me. I drove the car from NC to GA and wasn't bothered at all. The drone is nothing a little music won't cover up
But yes, I had that setup for 3.5 years and loved how it sounded, but the drone is obnoxious.

I am not using the M2W on my GS I currently have Longtubes, Catless X-pipe and a Z06 exhaust and it DOES drone with my A6 with the valves closed. It's quiet, but it's there. It's unlikely that it will bother you. But there is some level of drone...very easy to mask with a little music/radio. |
