dmeesq.... I believe that Billet Specialties calls my rims "FASTLANE II". Just FYI....

So after FULL TILT has been built for months now... I decided it was about time to tune her up!

Here she is running:

http://s1234.photobucket.com/albums/...0121140612.mp4

Other than a small oil leak around the timing chain cover... she runs great. Got a small leak in a brand new set of Hedman Headers got to send them back. .... but she runs VERY cool around 160-175 degrees... and for a 13.5 to 1 motor, I am pleased!

Robert, just watched your video, to see full tilt that way and not just in still's, is totally amazing.

Unbelievable craftsmanship with every detail, if i ever make it down your way on vacation i would love to see it in person.

Thanks CruzinZ! Come on down... I'll buy the beverages!

Very nice custom

140 GPM? You'd be out of fuel in 8 seconds.

77custom 01-22-2012 10:48 AM

Thanks Lemans... and yes, you are correct, that is a typo... should be GPH! Although at 6 miles per gallon, you're not far off the mark I pretty much have to stop for gas every chance I get!

HEre is the pump:

...reminds me of the time I first heard a guy say those rather infamous words: "She'll pass anything on the road except a gas station!"

Car looks great. Not to high jack ur thread but since there r a few of us with the tilt frontends together here I would like to ask if any of you sealed off ur tilt front end by the windshield? Mine has some large foam in the back of the hood for some reason. I guess it seals all the hot air in for what reason I don t know. Any of yaw tried to install some hood vents like the viper acr have on their hoods? Any other ideas on under hood venting? My bb. Gets hot under their.

77custom 10-19-2012 05:32 PM

airtime,

I keep mine open on the back to vent air. I also have a vent cut into the hood scoop as well. So far, Full Tilt runs all day at about 190 degrees.

airtime 10-19-2012 06:48 PM

i was just curious why someone had put that foam between my hood cowl and windshield. i am going to remove it. i believe it will let the air pass/ flow better thru the engine compartment and remove some extra heat. my car runs cool water temp wise but i feel like heat is getting trapped in there. i was thinking of cutting out my shark gill area area also. i am going to try and see if i can find some of those viper acr hood vents and see how they fit our hood lines

Ross.... I did graduate from Georgia Tech about 25 years ago! But my degrees are in Computer Science and Industrial management. Just got REAL lucky having a father who could literally build/race ANYTHING with wheels and a motor! And thank God a bit of that rubbed off on me!

KT... Funny you should say that. I thought about true "gull wing doors" (like a 55 Mercedes) for over a year! The real problem exists in having very little (if no) roof support for hinging, the fact that vette doors weigh a ton, and they have no upper frames! I Thought seriously about making steel frames (around the window glass) ... fabbing up steel t-tops, welding them together... and creating "Gull Wings"... that was really the easy part... but the amount of work involved in re-enforcing the center of the car (center t top frame) , and making hinges that could support that much (off balance) weight was too much thought for me at the time!

The "Lambo" hinges I have are from Street Car Customs. The guy does great work! BUT... I wanted to be able to open the doors in the original manner, as well as tilt them up, so I redesigned his hinges. Nothing that a grinder and some thought won;t fix eh?!?

The doors on Full Tilt open both ways now... standard, or Lambo.

Sorry to ramble on about this... but like I said, I spent ALOT of time trying to figure the Gull Wing thing out!

Happy New Year

Robert

Robert - amazing looking car. The first few pics and I thought you've really done some amazing work and it must have cost a bundle of time and money. By the time I got to the end of the post, I was even more impressed - very nice work, and obviously a lot of thought!

Question - the lambo doors, I did a google search on street car customs, and didn't have any luck finding your guy. I found street beat customs and dream car customs - both with lambo doors... Care to share a link or info on your guy? I have a buddy with a 69 with lambo doors, but they don't open wide enough before the stop to go up - love your idea about grinding off the stop a bit...

OK... it has been a while since I have posted anything on Full Tilt... she is running great, and has a new home! My wife and I moved, I restored the new (old) house for us... and have been slammed at work. Maybe this winter I will have a chance to out the finishing touches on her.

Thought you guys might want to see some pics of Full Tilt now.

Wow, that's such an awesome color! While I'm not a big fan of the new wheels, I've seen many examples done right! You've got to have the right 'stance' to make it work and you did a great job on that one!

7T1vette 12-13-2012 02:33 PM

I've never seen a mid-70's C3 that I thought looked really good with a spoiler.....until now!

C3 4ME 12-13-2012 05:29 PM

I'll agree, usually a spoiler looks tacked on and tacky, and I normally don't care for the customs, but yours is in a class by itself. Very nice work.

LAddams 12-13-2012 09:06 PM

That car is pure awesome! Wouldnt think to put the spoiler that far forward but wow! looks amazing.

77custom 12-14-2012 11:09 AM

Rogman, yes the wife is pleased. And so am I. I actually have a nicer garage/shop now! But she has forbidden me to paint in it! EVER! LOL.

Thanks all for the kinds words.
