Vortech vs Procharger?
I guess its really more like A&A Vortech vs Procharger. Are there any real differences between these kits as far as function is concerned? Cooling of the charge? Belt wear? Anything? Power goals are pretty reserved at around 500whp. I don't think that should be an issue with either so the smaller details are important in making the decision.

BTW, ECS runs Paxton, great system but that is still a good flight tread to start with.

A procharger without a good A&A bracket is asking for trouble. A&A has great customer service and what I heard was due to manufacturer not standing behind their product very well and sticking customers with supercharger repair bills when they should have warrantied the product is the reason A&A changed to Vortech. From listening to the renegade class racers, I learned that the F1R's run way hotter than the Vortechs, but not sure about the P1 and D1. Due the the better design of the entire system, A&A is by far the way to go if you're comparing A&A to Procharger.

You can purchase an A&A kit and it can support a Vortech or a Procharger depending on how it's ordered.
The Procharger head units are a little bit more money-as far as what's better it really just comes down to personal preference in your horsepower range. PM or gimme a call if you have any questions. :cheers: |
I am from NOLA with an A&A setup with vortech si trim we can get together one day and you can check out my setup.... I go to school in Mobile but we can set something up on a weekend

After that issue, is when ECS went the way of paxton, and A&A the way of vortech, who ironically are both seperate divisions of the same company. (I think vortech owns paxton, but it could be vice versa) I've worked with procharger kits on trucks, had one a p1sc then a F1 my 00 old body style tahoe and a buddy had a D1sc on his 03 avalanche....At the time I thought it was good stuff until we tried to go bigger with both kits....needless to say both were sold. The super rare ECS truck paxton kit on my 07 2500 suburban made more power than both of those trucks with a little 1500 novi. I just ran into cooling problems with a 24 ft enclosed so off it came, since the suburban was meant for towing not racing. Keep debating putting a maggie on it, but it gets the job done NA and running 87 the rest of the time is nice in a 12 mpg pig. so to summarize, procharger headunits are not bad, but procharger kits (especially the old ones) from procharger were never up to par with an ECS or A&A kit utilizing a procharger head unit. |

Since we started using Vortech we've never looked back. Their blowers are very efficient and reliable, and they take good care of us. It doesn't hurt that they're down the street from us too. :D
We make a bracket that will work with ProChargers. We offer a "base kit" that comes with everything you need except for the blower, belt, and supercharger pulley if you decide you want a ProCharger.:thumbs: |
If I'm thinking about going with an F1R (402ci-427ci) on my rebuild what would be the comparable Vortech unit? YSI? If so where does the YSI run out of breath?

I got enough garbage from Procharger that I wouldn't even consider them any more. I can't keep track of everything they do, and they may make some good parts for some applications, but it wouldn't be worth it to me to even check it out when there are some proven and stellar alternatives.

Seriously tho, Procharger makes excellent head units, but I've had problem with warranty issues as well. However it was a sc unit. Had 2 p600b units and none ever gave any probs. Those are still supplied oil from engine. But I always run engine oil coolers with sc or turbo on cars I've built |

IMHO for what you want get the A&A Kit and call it a day - if you want more you can build from there very easily and achieve continuous good results!

I think I will have to build the bottom end before I upgrade blowers. That was kind of my point.

If you want Procharger I would look into Cartek's kit.
