Anti-Venom 6 Speed Shifter Modification (Procedure)
Guys:
This modification will reduce the "notch" feeling when shifting between gears. And allows for a more easy shift. Its a MUST do for when you install a Short Shifter. Easy to install and remove if you don't like it. On my web site at the bottom: http://ToqueZ06.com/ Anti-Venom 6 Speed Shifter Modification: Toque |

Thanks for posting this up. Should help the manual transmission owners.

Thanks Toque. This is a mod I haven't done yet even though I've had an aftermarket shifter for over 10 years.
I'll have to check out your website. Rick |

Thanks guys !
Its a real old mod talked about on here years ago. I thought I would bring it back to life... I have been reading the C5 section since 2000 (lurker)... signed up once I got my Z in 2004  Toque |
Well Done!\\

Toque, my B&M Ripper shifts notchier than s%$@, especially 1st and Reverse. The RSD shifter I installed is almost TOO easy to shift. I am looking for something in between. You think the washer mod would help my old B&M? I plan on changing the trans fluid with Amsoil anyway, so the car will be on the lift.

Did this today on my car which had a Ripper installed by the previous owner. Was too notchy and thanks to Toque I found this procedure to be extremely easy and made all the difference in the world.
Car is more enjoyable to drive now, I can find the right gear without having to really muscle the shifter. Also going 1 to R or R to 1 is easy now. |

can you explain what you mean by notch feeling? does it make it quicker to get in gear? also how much oil will come out..
thanks sean No oil comes out at all. The oil level is well below where this detent plug is located. Yes its quicker to get into gear too. Quicker throws between the gears for sure. Cheap and easy ! Toque |

I went for a 1.5 hour cruise tonight after doing the anti-venom mod. I had my tranny rebuild done a month ago and I had it removed for the rebuild. Without the shim in there my shifter went back to feeling stiff and notchy. The Anti venom mod really loosened things up. Much easier to get into gear. More precise I find. I have tried 2 shims in the past and it felt too loose. One shim is perfect I find. Everyone is different of course. I would try one first, and two next (if you find one not enough). Its super easy to do.
Post back up what you think once you do it ! Toque I'm already wanting a Z06 trans, if it's more aggressive than the M12 Looks like I have saving to do! |
Where did you buy the washer ?

I'm not sure what you mean. This is a mod that you can do to any 6 speed (M6 or M12) to loosen up the shifter feel.
Toque The new C6 transmissions TR6060 have better hydraulics that makes shifting so easy you can literally do it with one finger! Lol I'll have to tlk to RkT56(Rick) lol |
I was out cruising around again again last night. WOW what an improvement. It feels perfect now !
