1979 Corvette? What its worth?
Im thinking about getting a C3 Corvette, i had a C4, want to change things around a bit. But how much are they worth? The one I'm looking at is custom, has lambo doors, custom hood, new engine and tranny. Needs paint, Original owner from 1979. Clean title. What would you pay for something like that? Appreciate all feedback.

Good luck having this forum like it. The major consensus is having as much original look and being stock as possible.
Post some pics and what they are asking for it to get a better idea |
He's asking 6000. Heres a pic, http://squizzlesoft.com/SquizzleSoft/Blank_files/1.jpg
Im 17 years old, wanted a change from a C4. |
Normally I dont like cars that have this much mods to them. But for only $6000 this looks like a lot of car for the money. And I can see how this would appeal to the younger crowd as it brings some of the newer mods such as the lambo doors to an older car.
For only $6k it looks good. At least until you hit your first speed bump and it rips off the front air dam which is sitting too low and too far forward to be practical on the street. kdf |
are there pics of the engine bay or interior?
if all it needs is paint that is a pretty good price, but id imagine not everything is spiffy in the engine bay. |
stick with the C4.
Although the doors are neat on a Honda, Nissan or whatever, I believe in time they will cause the car to be worth salvage price . |
I'm very much NOT an expert on these cars (as I'm a new owner myself).
With that said... I'll have to agree that for $6k, that's really not a bad deal (assuming that the engine is good). I, personally, hate that front air dam, but the more I look at the doors and the hood, the more I like them. Just make sure it's mechanically sound enough to be your daily driver. That would be my biggest concern. As for resale value... I bet you'll always be able to find another teenage or college kid to sell it to aslong as you take care of it. Good luck! |
more pics! this is def more a 17 y/o car than a C4

I loved my C4, but heres some more pics of the car.

Young man, be careful dealing with pimps. They can't be trusted!

I don't like it one bit, but if you do - six grand isn't much money for a 79 Vette. Check the frame and birdcage for excessive rust, and see how she runs. If you like it this car is worth six grand.

The wheels on the outside are way too big, the wheel on the inside is way too small. Be aware that C3's don't have much headroom with the tops on. You're likely to crush the feather in your hat. |

I hate the steering wheel, but luckily for me he has the original steering wheel that came with the car.
