I've never made a mod I couldn't live with but I've done a couple things I might have done differently. At one point I installed a harness bar in the car. Later on I replaced the harness bar with a custom 5-point roll bar. In retrospect, I should have skipped the harness bar and gone to a roll bar straight-away. At least now, whenever I want to go to a full cage I can just add-onto to what I have....I won't have to replace the roll bar.

I never wanted to make my C6 look like a Z06. To run wider rear wheels I tubbed my wheel wells like friends of mine had done. My oldest son suggested I go with the Z06 quarter panels. Wouldn't you know, not long after I tubbed the wheel wells my wheel maker stopped being able to make 12" or 13" x 18" rear wheels for a tubbed C6. He could no longer get the right blanks. My new Z06 quarter panels are being painted today.

I don't really have any regrets but in retrospect a couple things I would have done differently. Worst of all, I have to tell my son he was right. ;)

why scramble your plates?

do you cover them up driving down the road also?

:lurk:

Actually, there's software available that will 'un-swirl' a srambled plate like this. I understand why media sources blackout a license plate for general liability concerns but for the average guy to worry about it seems a bit unnecessary. To the best of my knowledge most states don't allow the release of personal information from a plate unless you opt-in and permit it.

Modding is an art/craft/hobby :D I've always enjoyed customizing my cars a little bit. As I stated earlier I have made mistakes , but learned from them on my C6 for the most part.

Modding comes down to what a great deal of other things do in life and that is $$$$$

As the saying goes, you gotta pay to play. Some are happy stock, and some are not. To each his own. No right or wrong answer over all, its what works best for you and your car and are you happy with it.

Only one was a magnaflow exhaust. Sounded great but the drone was unbearable. Went to LG exhaust and Corsas. I love it now as well as my other mods.

I did the same thing. Went to Magnaflows, then back to modified stock, then to a full Z06 system from headers back, with Corsa Sports. Drone was the killer for the Magnaflows, but I still don't like the sound of the Corsas.

B & B Bullets. Loved the "music" but the drone after a long trip was unbearable. Went back to stock.

Similar story on my C5 - put the B&B PRT's on. It sounded great. And it got old after a week. I was VERY lucky in that I got my money back.

I replaced with Corsa Sports and loved them.

Come on Frank, the high performance hood seal for the C5 was worth 5-10 hp right? Lmao.

only if you had the relocated MAT sensor ;)

Don't have a single one I regret yet. I'm actually happy with all the mods I've done to my vehicles.

Yup ... I bought a mod I couldn't live with.

Bought a "Curb Alert". The first one did not work. They sent me a replacement ... It was dead!

Cheap Chinese electronics!

Can't live with something that is dead out of the box!

To me, there's nothing wrong with modding. Just realize it will wind up costing you more than you expect. And modded cars bring less at resale. I'm only saying this for the benefit of the newbies who think they'll get their money back.

If I were rich, there's a good chance I would put headers and a blower on my car. I could afford it now, but since I'm not rich, there are other things that my money will go to - like paying off my house.

As long as you're rich like Steve Miller or Raazor, money is noooo problem - you should mod away ! :D

I haven't bought anything major that I didn't like, but I have bought a few $100 ideas that I didn't care for.....like the mild/w. Didn't like the drone. Sold it for half price. Also bought the cup holder. Although it was on the wife's side...she finally said, that she would rather have the leg room. Sold it for half price. So....that about $75 I've lost.
I know before you make a move like changing your exhaust note, camming, or super/C ing
you better do your homework.
