CARAVAN-VETTES AND JETS ON THE LEX (Corpus Christi)

VETTES AND JETS ON THE LEX CARAVAN
(headed to Corpus Christi, Texas)
Friday, September 9, 2011

:auto::auto::auto::auto::auto:

Back in 2007, a caravan of corvettes started in Florida and made it’s way thru Mississippi, Georgia, Louisiana picking up corvettes along the way. When the caravan made it to Houston, several of us joined them and we all headed to Corpus Christi, Texas for Vettes and Jets on the Lex event. In 2009, we did the same thing and though it was pouring rain, we still managed to pull away from the Houston area with approx. 43 corvettes. Awesome sight to see! :hurray:

We are inviting ALL corvettes to join us in a Caravan headed to Corpus Christi on Friday, September 9th, 2011 at 10am. If our out-of-town guests can arrange their schedules to perhaps be at our meeting place on Friday morning, we would love for you to join us as we drive the 2.5 hours into Corpus Christi and join the hundreds of other corvettes at the U.S.S. Lexington. NO RSVP NEEDED, JUST SHOW UP!

MORE DETAILS TO FOLLOW AS WE GET CLOSER TO THE DATE!!! For now, here are tentative times.

Meeting Place:
Super Target
16300 Southwest Frwy.
Sugarland, Texas

Don't worry, you'll soon see the Corvette folks are a friendly group of people :yesnod:. You'll have tons of friends by the end of the weekend. Best part - you all will have something in common, the Corvettes::auto:.

Vettes and Jets on the Lex is an awesome experience:thumbs:. The comraderie, loads of fun and the fact that you are helping the Wounded Warrior Project is all worth it. Plus the chance to meet and say Thank You to the men and women who serve this country from the various branches of the military is an added bonus. Looking forward to meeting you both! :seeya

May be there, but it depends on work and how house hunting goes between now and then. My ol' C4 will obviously be one of the older dogs, if not the oldest, of the group. Lookin' forward to it if I can put it togeher. Sure does sound like a hell of a time with or without me!!

Cheers!
Wendell

Yep! We'll pick you up there. We'll be pulling over in Victoria for our halfway break for restrooms, snacks, more coffee, smoke breaks, gas, etc. Just blend in and enjoy the fun! Keep going into this thread for specific details when we get closer to the date. I'll give you my phone number at that time so you can call to see where we are at, or just listen in on the CB radio. Several of us will have them.

We have 11 cars from Florida coming over. Staying in Lake Charles LA Thursday night. Whats the best route from there? We have several truacks with trailers. Not sure what time we will leave Friday morning.

I'd probably say take I-10 to 59 south or if you want to avoid downtown Houston all together take I-10 to the beltway. You can be in Houston from the Casinos of lake charles in around 2 hours.

Any room for a baby blue Moosetang on the Lexington?

Keep in mind, Beltway 8 will have stops to pay toll fees. If there are corvettes on trailers, it may take a while for everyone to pass the toll bridges only to have to stop again at the next toll bridge. Don't know how many stops from I-10 to 59 South. Another option would be taking the 610 Loop to avoid Downtown. Too bad you can't stay in Houston on Thursday night. Call me and we can talk. I will send you a PM with my cell number.

We have plans to head out near 10am. If you go on Beltway 8, our meeting place is not too far from there & 59 South. If you can get to that area near 9:30am-10am, you can join us. Don't know how fast the trailered vehicles will go but as the Lead car, we will have to drive the speed limit +/- 10 mph. The last cars usually hit the higher speeds.
