My secondary's started acting up this past weekend on my 8500 mile car. I am going to change primary and secondary's with stock equipment. Anybody have any suggestions on who is the best vendor to purchase from and the required gaskets I am going to need?

Go with Accel or RC injectors

Dominic Sorresso 06-22-2011 12:22 AM

What does that mean, " my secondaries are acting up" ?
Why does that indicate injectors?

if you swap them out with stock injectors you're going to be pulling them out sooner rather then later again. swap in after market or ever 93-95 injectors and save yourself lots of time and money

:iagree:

My 90 had NOS (new original stock) exact replacements installed when I bought the car. They lasted 3 years before they too succumbed to the alcohol in the fuel.

I replaced them with the Accel #150821 that I got new from Summit Racing for 16 injectors for about $550 shipped.

Summit might tell you these injectors are not for the LT5. Ignore them, if they do (or don't say what you're application is).

The only thing is you have to do to is remove the little plastic key tab on injectors intended for use in the secondary (or was it the primary?) injector app. (Took me less than a minute ea. when using a Dremel and a grinding spool.)

And, I too echo what Dominic asks regarding the process that lead you to concluding the secondary injectors were at fault? (They may well be bad. Just interested in the process, is all:thumbs:)

I put FIC in my 95. So far, so good.

I used The Lucas disc type injectors for all 16 positions in my car. The bosch parts probably duplicate the oem spray pattern best, but my car passes CA emissions with ease and idles good at 650, so any of the available injectors for the LT5 should be better than original failed units.

Running FIC here too, no complaints.

The car runs great at normal power but switch to full power and step on it and it started missing.

Ive also got Accels. These are the same as an L98,just double 16 instead of 8 and also got mine from Summit for the same price.Dont be surprised that the injectors died at 8500 miles, mine died at 8000 miles.

And I hear the gas is going to get worse for our cars with more ethanol content.

BlackbirdZ07 06-22-2011 03:00 PM

FIC... is that Fuel Injector Clinic or Fuel Injector Connection??

Fuel Injector Connection lists several options for LT5's: rebuilt originals modified to accept ethanol, a set that looks like originals, and a cheaper set for $350.

IF you're talking about Fuel Injector Connection, which set are people using?

Fuel Injector Connection. I think most of us are running the rebuilt Bosch $350 set. They have orange tops, and aren't the prettiest injectors in the world, but seem to work well and are ethanol tolerant.

Yea, I'm in California where this garbage is going for over $4.00 a gallon.
Thank you very much!!

Just for the record you cant rebuild a fuel injector, they dont come apart from what Ive read, dont know what exactly constitutes a rebuilt fuel injector. If these are being rebuilt, internal components replaced this might be something new.The ethanol content increase at this point is still up in the air and stations have the option of selling it or not.Nobody knows the extent of possible damage to older car components.Anybody that has even the slightest concerns about this type of thing needs to join the Sema Action Network, its free.

Why did you change the injectors in your 95. The 405HP cars don't have the same injector issues as the earlier cars due to the different design.

HammerZR1 06-23-2011 07:14 AM

I put the rebuilt FIC injectors in my '91 in November 2008 and they have performed flawlessly since then. Gets around 26 average MPG on the highway.

Idaho started emissions testing and the car passed with flying colors in May. The TSI test was used and the produced the following results:
HC PPM Idle...Reading 129...Limit 220
CO % Idle...Reading 0.01...Limit 1.2

Car had the following mods when tested:
Open AC Lid w/ K&N Filter
Flowmaster Cat-Back

Hope this info helps.
