Even with my 63 yo eyes I can spot the ZR-1 in that pic. Third brake light on top, special license plate frame and of course the wide azz :D :rock:

If you say so. But not in the pic I replied to. The white one looks like the rear might be wide enough, but it's got the third brake light in the rear bumper, which would have to be a mod.

I haven't owned that tread design but would assume the "V"-shaped channels would move water from the center back and outward to the edge of the tire. Your mounting looks like it would do the opposite.

They do, the angle of the picture may throw you off, but the center of the "v" is what contacts first

Nice!!! I had this idea too! Where did you get your paint done? My Vette is void of paint right now. I had been asking around the forums if any one had done this to a C4. I'd like to try it for a while then eventually paint my car back to the original dark red.

Me too. I like it alot.
I asked a guy at work that does wraps if he could wrap my car in matte black. that way I could go back to red if I got tired of it. lot of $$$ though.
the matte black and gloss black it a great combo. Seems like the matte black is really just dark charcoal.

Thank you. I am really happy with how it turned out. I was going with Gloss Copper, but when it came time to spray I had to go this way. My int would have looked like crap with Copper and would have needed to be changed

The shop that did it has had experience with several cars so far going this way so far (he paints show cars as well as street cars), Black or White and an olive drab, BMR's, a C6 and Hummer just to name a few. If the shop doesn't know what they are doing it can look very splotchy. The painter went out of his way doing extra bodywork and prep I didn't even think it needed but he said if he didn't do it the matte/satin accentuates any wavyness or imperfections more than a gloss finish. It was totally disassembled and jambed as well so it doeesn't show any of the previous screwed up paint.(Charcoal Metallic)

I will tell you, that I have owned several black cars including my C6 that were standard gloss black and I was a fanatic about keeping them clean. This finish is far WORSE. It shows everything instantly, I now am washing it far more than I would have ever thought. Water spots from the sprinklers freaked me out at first, but they washed off with no problem. When and if I need to change it I would think seriously about going back to a gloss finish.

I know many here are not fans of dull/matte finish on a Vette. I was always intrigued by the old way they used to design cars using clay. Being clay they were always flat with no glossiness. It showed all the subtle lines of the cars design without the distraction of reflection.

Project C4- Yes the wraps are expensive to install, more that the adhesive wrap material and lams. If you do it get an experienced installer and make sure they use the highest quality materials or you may not like the results.

Now I just need to get the wheels refinished, but they need them for a week and I am enjoying driving it too much to part with it for that long.
I have looked for other '89 wheels to put on that are already clean and polished but have had no luck so far. Anyone got a take-off set for sale?

It's you hood. I only used bits and pieces of the SS hood. I kno of 3 others that tried it and had to buy a new hood. I don't remember who they are. 2 on here and 1 over at DC. Good luck.
